This place has very good service. They give you complimentary cucumber water, and check on your meal. We came here twice because my boyfriend loved the tempeh burger. As a meat eater myself, I even thought it was delicious and taste like fried chicken. It was really good. I had the prawn pasta which was really good but a very small portion and it only has two small shrimps that were chopped in half so a bit disappointing to consider it a shrimp dish. The dip with the chips appetizer was also small. I had the pesto gnocchi the next time which was good, but for my own personal preference it was missing the Parmesan taste which of course you won’t get in a vegan dish. I did want to try it though as all the reviews say it was the best pesto they ever had. The dish was also very filling. I couldn’t finish it. The calamari was a very nice appetizer as well.
All in all, it’s a great little place with excellent service and I’m sure you will find something you’ll love as the menu is a mix of Indonesian, Mexican, and Italian catering to...
Read moreWe found Father Field bistro on Google - it’s one of the most highly rated places in the area! The owners (a husband and wife) are super attentive - he was constantly topping up our water and beers and is so friendly - service with such a big smile! Ignore the two 1* reviews on google - this is a quaint bistro that has 6 tables, I’d rather an intimate setting where you know food is being freshly prepared than a kitchen that churns out bland meals.
The portion sizes are great, the food is super tasty and really well priced - a great mix of different dishes and they were really keen to understand why we didn’t finish the food (in a nice way, trying to gather feedback) - we were honestly just full - they also offered to box our food up for us :)
One of the nicest restaurants I’ve been to in Bali and I’ll certainly recommend to friends and family if they visit Penida.
Thank you so much and...
Read moreWow, this place is phenomenal. Make a special trip if you have to, you won’t be disappointed.
It’s a small place and you’d be forgiven for passing it by.
Father Field is run by Kadek and Komang. The food is all homemade by Kadek and Komang is a great host. On our first visit I had the vegan gnocchi and it was so fresh and flavoursome. And the vegan croquettes, which were light and fluffy and full of flavour with awesome dips. The second visit I had the vegan corn chips and vegan cheese dish called caprese (I’ve never had vegan mozzarella like it, awesome!)
This is a great place if you are vegan but also if you’re in mixed company - as options for all. Great affordable prices too.
Kadek is an amazing chef. And Komang is one of the most friendly hosts I’ve met so far.
Enjoy this hidden gem before it...
