I have been on a croissant frenzy for the search of the best (traditionally tasting, on par with Paris ~ give and take) plain croissant in Canggu area. I usually try at least twice and around 8-11am to be as fair as possible.
Out of 8 well known bakeries, Baked comes out top 3. In fact, the best I think. (although by personal preference, my heart belongs to another) I have tried their plain croissants 3 times, always a pleasure. Great buttery taste, lightly crisped and chew, perfect moisture content. It’s not overly baked and dry on the outside which surprisingly happens very often. It’s a perfectly perfect croissant. I read a review here that Baked did not warm or heat up the croissant….please do not let a bakery toast your croissant
Other pastries makes Baked my go to bakery too. Only a small selection that they completely aced on (eg Fold and Butterman has wayyyyy too many pastries and are hits and misses) and none overly sweet. The bun on sticky bun is so nice and yeasty, the dulce cruffin have enough density and filling to pastry ratio, the bread for Korean honey toast has great flavor and is well toasted and soft, good butter. It’s the little details that makes Baked my favorite bakery in the chaotic Canggu with endless cafe options selling avocado toast. Sometimes all you need is a good pastry.
Not to mention their drip coffee (and refillable) !! This is such a nostalgic option for me. I don’t think I have found another cafe that serves drip coffee. It’s a nice medium roast that fills my heart lol milk on the side is free. Their ice americano has a nice dark profile
Lastly, I do look for cafe with a comfortable and conducive area for coffee, cigarettes and reading. I do prefer this location to Pererenan. Not because I like the modern architecture and aesthetic of this location, I actually do not like it at all. I do however, enjoy the outside seats in front of the cafe. You can lean on the wall lol there are trees for shady options, it is lined with potted plants that kinda keeps the dust and noise away. They don’t blast outdoor music or music at all, at least when I was there. The location in Pererenan is what we call in NYC fully inside outside and outside inside. It’s an open area, very airy and spacious but smoking area is close to dinning and speakers plays music. I don’t necessarily want to be around diners for those activities and would usually go to coffee roasters/ specialty that...
Read moreI recently visited Baked Cafe Shop in Simanyak and had a delightful experience. Let me start by saying that their pastries are absolutely divine. I ordered the Almond Croissant and Baklava Croissant, and both were exceptional. The Almond Croissant was flaky and buttery, with a generous filling of almond paste that added a delightful sweetness. The Baklava Croissant, on the other hand, was a unique twist on a classic dessert. The combination of flaky croissant pastry and the rich flavors of baklava made for a truly indulgent treat. I highly recommend trying both if you have a chance!
To accompany my pastries, I opted for the Rosella Hibiscus Ice Tea. It was a refreshing and vibrant drink that perfectly complemented the flavors of the croissants. The hint of hibiscus added a pleasant tartness, making it a perfect choice for a sunny day.
For those who prefer coffee, I also tried their Organic Oat Latte. The baristas at Baked Cafe Shop certainly know their craft. The latte was expertly made, with a rich, smooth texture and a subtle nutty flavor from the organic oat milk. It was a comforting and satisfying choice for a mid-day pick-me-up.
The ambiance at Baked Cafe Shop was cozy and inviting. The comfortable seats allowed me to relax and enjoy my treats in a laid-back setting. The interior design was stylish yet unpretentious, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made me want to linger for hours.
The service at Baked Cafe Shop was top-notch. The staff members were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They greeted me with warm smiles and were more than happy to answer any questions I had about the menu. Their attentiveness and genuine enthusiasm for their craft added to the overall positive experience.
Thank you for giving your lovely costumer a great way to enjoy BALI with your creative...
Read moreVery slow service. We were the first customers of the day and waited 45 mins for eggs benny and it finally came out undercooked (by this I mean that on cutting into both poached eggs, the inside was liquid and spilled immediately all over the plate!)
It feels more like a McDonalds than a nice cafe. You need to queue to order and pay in advance for your food and service (however good or bad it might be). We sat down upstairs and were told that it wasn't open until 9am due to a lack of staff. Maybe some more need to be hired?
The female toilet had a sign on it saying out of service which isn't really good enough, first thing in the morning! If you want to sign into the wifi, you need to provide lots of personal details. Also there were a lot of mosquitoes, which should not be the case indoors and the music was too loud. The staff adjusted this when we asked them to.
I still gave 2 stars for the coffee and the pain au chocolat we got which were quick and good! Maybe we caught them at a bad time but there was no attempt made by the staff to make up for the slow service and I didn't ask for a fresh meal for fear it would take as long again. The staff also didn't bother to check how our food was when collecting the plates so there was no opportunity to express our unhappiness.
I took the time to write this review in the hopes that it would be helpful to management if they care about their customer experience. Perhaps it would be a good idea to just operate as a take out, or better still, hire more staff and train them properly! We did not feel valued as customers and I would not go here again for a sit down meal as it was too much of a...
