A really nice bar that's not very well run.
Very bad food, dishonest pricing and useless/disinterested staff.
The night my friend and I went, there were 4 staff behind the bar (blue-shirted bar tenders), 8 people on the floor (yellow shirted waiters/waitresses) and a couple of staff in black shirts (no idea what these did) and I believe (maybe not) a supervisor, manager or owner (?) sat at the end of the bar with his mate clueless to what was going on around him.
Despite all these staff, it's very difficult getting served even though, when we were there, I counted fewer than 10 customers spread across 4 tables. The staff seemed to be only interested in talking to each other and/or playing on their mobile phones. I could not believe how such a lovely looking bar could be so badly run.
Also, beware of their happy hour. When we were there we were told the happy hour was up to 9pm and included buy one get one free on selected beers. Initially we tried Diablo as we had never had it before. It wasn't to our taste (fair enough, no bad faith) so we then ordered 2 glasses of Bali Hai. These were also subject to the buy one get one free happy hour. In the menu, this glass is priced at 33,000++. However, when we got the bill, they were 70,000 each nett. We asked why the menu said 33,000 and the receipt said 70,000. They said the 33,000 is just a 'cocktail price' (I've no idea what that means). So basically, 2 glasses on buy one get one free is more expensive than buying 2 glasses outside the happy hour using menu prices. Bizarre.
I have no idea whether this is badly trained staff or cynical management pricing but either way, the customer is misled and I felt very ripped off.
The environment is very good and the music was excellent. This could be a really nice pub but it needs a massive management overhaul,a streamlining of...
Read moreAs numerous other reviews have mentioned, this place tries to scam you by charging prices higher than on their menu. I bought a single small Bintang. The menu said in was suppossed to be 45,000 Rupiah, which is already a super high price as a Bintang is usually between 25,000 to 35,000 Rupiah at most bars. The bill came back for 65,000 Rupiah for one Bintang! I called the waiter over and pointed out the bill was wrong. He pretended not to understand me. I asked for a menu so I could show the price discrepancy, and he came back with a menu with all the beer prices whited out. In other words, they had a altered menu that did not show prices ready for when complaints are made. I went behind he bar, found a menu with prices and showed the manager, who then said I was supposed to pay 56,000k, after tax and a service charge that was not set forth on the menu or otherwise posted in the bar. Thus, she said I still owed 20 percent more than the price in the menu, but 9000 less than the original bill. She did not explain the original overcharge on the bill. Rather than argue again about only having to pay the 45,000 shown on the menu, I paid the 56,000 and got out of there. Then the parking attendants at the alley parking associated with the bar charged 5000 Rupiah rather than the customary 2000 for parking. Mind you, this is not for parking in a lot, but rather to park in a public alley that they have just taken over without any apparent right. This place is a scam. Do...
Read moreIt was ok.. Nothing special.. Just ok... The front entrance has a small table and a sofa (I guess a waiting area if you have to wait to be seated) and was cluttered with dirty plates, glasses and used tissue everywhere. Seating staff took us to a wall shelf but gave us a table shortly after. Service is slow when Ir comes to ordering your second drinkn better order 2 off the get-go. No Bintang available while I was there 👎 (eventhough it's on the menu), I was offered a Heineken but settled for a Corona 👍. The German Bratwurst had a weird homemade sauce on it made from molasses and chillies. Definelty ruined the Bratwurst; this was surely not a German dish. Anyway, the life band is good and not too loud. Prices are in between.. The place is located near downtown and a bit hard to find. Parking is cumbersome. Will I go back? Maybe with a group and already being somewhat tipsy.. Going back alone, ...
