MY RECOMMENDATION I recommend to go to Tempo Gelato maybe 5 min from this place. BETTER and MORE choices of gelato and drinks. Pleasant seating areas, cleaner facilities. And very kind, helpful staff. It is better organized and they have a very high quality of service.

THE CONFLICT For starters, I am half surinamese, half Indonesian. I am born and raised in the Netherlands, but speak fluently Bahasa/Indonesian (because I have lived in Jakarta)

When I first ordered my desserts and drinks, I was helped by a lady. Mind you, I ordered in Bahasa and the service was alright. After I finished my order, I spoke Dutch with my sister. Obviously the people working there heard it.

After receiving my food and drinks, I went back inside to order some other stuff. This time I was helped by a (young) man, who previously stood right next to the lady that helped me before. I ordered once again in Bahasa/Indonesian, but for some reason the man replied in (broken) English. While I tried to continue in Bahasa, this man continued replying in BROKEN English, making it difficult to understand what he was trying to say. He mumbled some weird sentences and raised the price of my order what supposed to be 23k rupiah. He explained it was because of “TAXES”

In the 28 years that I have been visiting Indonesia and lived for 3 years. I have never in my life paid more than what was shown on the price/menu. Never have I heard of raising the total bill, because of taxes.

DEAFENING LIVE BAND They also had a live band. However the sound was way too loud. With only approx 20-30 people on the terrace, the volume settings were for 1000-5000 people. It also didn’t helped that the singer was screaming in the microphone.

DISGUSTING TABLES Upon arriving the tables were all sticky and had ice cream on top of it. Because they didn’t clean up or wipe the tables, it attracted some nasty bugs.

CONCLUSION Usually I love to tip the people after I finish (regardless of the quality/taste). I am definitely not the one to complain about the smallest things. But this left a bitter taste and made all the little things at the place more frustrating.

REVIEW OF MY ORDER One of the things that I ordered was a coffee cake. However they brought the wrong cake and I had to remind them of what I ordered.

The cake was very dry and tasted like it was frozen en unthawed.

The matcha latte that I ordered took 20 minutes before I received it. When they brought the matcha latte, it got cold. Making it unpleasant to drink. Same goes for the coffee, which tasted a little bit bitter and sour. As if the milk was a little bit off.

Fortunately their gelato was very nice and wasn’t too sweet. It had a very soft, creamy aftertaste. I also liked the thin waffle they gave...

The place makes a good space for work: the wifi connection is good enough, the place is bright and airy (indoor is air conditioned, so it's convenient) though the place is not quiet but still convenient for work. I ordered lychee tea and it was very refreshing. The chicken noodle soup+bakso are so so, nothing special. The price is affordable by Prawirotaman's standard. Ps: gelato is not dissapointing, but also not so special. It's okay.
