Really great little pub in cork In saying that very disappointed at my experience in there on Saturday the 20th of March While ordering a drink myself and my brother were approached by the most obnoxious woman who claimed my brother was being “disingenuous” because he was in her way. He apologised and said he would have moved had she asked as he was not aware. She continued to argue with him over it and said his apology was fake which it wasn’t. Ironically she was then in my way of picking up my order from the bar as she was sitting at the bar but not sitting at this moment as she was so busy arguing with my brother even after he had apologised. The bar staff then began shouting at my brother which was really embarrassing considering we had done nothing wrong. This woman then advised that she actually works here which seemed to make her feel like she was more entitled than us to be in the bar. Mary Beth the manager is absolutely obnoxious aswell refused me a drink because of the above at last call. Avoid at all costs apparently if you work here you’re more entitled than the average joe to drink here and or get served. As a manager Mary beth had no interested in my side of the story and I wasn’t even involved in the dispute! Absolutely disgusting behaviour. There is two sides to every story unless you work here and...

What fun! We only came for the sessions and a pint, but the music was grand! It was absolutely packed with people - no room to sit anywhere downstairs, but there is a quieter upstairs room that we occupied while waiting for the musicians to start. The service is bar only, so one of us had to fight through the scrum to order, then manage to get back out with the drinks. The crowd was cheerful, friendly, and generally welcoming, but it was crowded. The musicians played whatever they wanted and we listened appreciatively. There wasn't a singer, so it was just instrumental, with three violins, a guitar, mandolin, flute/pennywhistle player, and a piper. The tunes ranged from lively dance music to mournful ballads to American classic rock. It...

This is a traditional Irish bar. No food, just drinks and companionship. They have the longest running trad (since 1972). If you love being in tight places, with fantastic beer, great service at the bar, and experience trad music, this is a must visit location. We went two nights in a row and enjoyed it. The first night was packed, but there is an upstairs area that allowed us to listen to the music, but still have conversation. The lower level was packed. On the second night we got to the bar by 549, grab the few remaining seats, enjoyed a pint, and listened to the music. It was a completely different experience, and very fun. Try them both, post a train ticket or dollar on the wall and know you are...
