I love this restaurant and have been going here on and off here for probably 15 years. Anything I say here is in the context of me liking the restaurant and is meant in a constructive way. The best thing about this place is undoubtedly the staff. They're always friendly and kind, particularly when there are kids involved. I ordered a pizza margherita. The base wasn't "right". It didn't have the elasticity and lightness found in a good base. The base reminded me of a sort of crusty bread in texture. Previous pizzas in Il Padrino haven't always been like this, although the last few times they have been. The tomato sauce wasn't pletniful on the pizza and didn't have any tang or basil flavour. The pizza was laden with a salty mozzarella and cheddar. The experience at the restaurant was lovely. The atmosphere was lovely. The lighting and setting also really pleasing. I'll always turn here as I've always liked these factors but please give us the pizzas like ye used to make - light, full of flavour, and not too cheesy. I hope ye don't mind the feedback.

I visited Il Padrino for dinner as a group of four people. I would recommend reserving a table. The restaurant fills up with diners very quickly after 6pm. There is a great variety of dishes to choose from. We ordered Arancini, or deep fried rice balls, and garlic bread for starters. Both were delicious, though we would have welcomed more than two rice balls on the plate. For the main course, everybody ordered something different: risotto, tagliatelle, chips. We all enjoyed our meals. I had tagliatelle with chicken and mushroom sauce, "Tagliatelle al Pollo", which was exceptional and the garlic bread accompanying the dish was nice. The staff were all friendly and very quick to fulfill our requests for extra water and sharing plates. One nice improvement to the menu would be the addition of photos of most or all dishes on the menu. It makes it easier for people unfamiliar with Italian dishes to understand what is on offer. I would recommend Il Padrino to anyone looking to eat out at an Italian restaurant in the heart of Cork City.

We ordered a bruschetta, tagliatelle supreme and chicken lasagne. The service and the presentation was great, however the flavours were unlike any Italian food I've ever eaten - reminded me of a well spiced curry, which I usually love but not what I was expecting. And the food overall had way too much garlic. 1. Bruschetta - unlike a usual bruschetta where the ingredients shine, it had too many competing flavours -veggies, cheese, pesto sauce. (3/5) 2. Tagliatelle Supreme - crowded flavours, too much spice and heavily doused in a goopy heavy sauce (2/5) 3. Lasagne - It was served submerged in the same goopy sauce. The chicken was dry and I never say too much cheese but it had so much cheese which made it very heavy. (1/5) 4. Wine - Casa Carmela - perfect. (5/5) Overall experience - happy with the service and the atmosphere, the food was underwhelming and unexpected but then, the restaurant was receptive to the feedback. Maybe just a bad day!

Tonight I went for dinner to Il Padrino, being my third occasion in the last year to eat there. I ordered the same meal I got on my first and second visit, the steak with fries and pepper corn, which was really delicious, so I was looking forward to having it again. The first issue , it took a very long time to get our food, which was unusual as tables around us, such as a table of 4 who came in a while after (us being two) were served a long time before we were. When the food finally arrived, I noticed right away that the meal was different to before , and the fries/chips were what can only be described as frozen chips like you can get in a bag in a supermarket, but cheap ones that didn’t taste good. The steak in peppercorn sauce was very good, but for me the winner in the meals previous were the fries. I couldn’t eat them and I asked the server were they different fries then usual and I mentioned they seemed lower quality, he then stood there without any reply and seemingly unable to know how to respond to my query, it was pretty awkward and I just dismissed it and asked him to please take away the plate. Clearly the waiter was not trained with how to deal with feedback or complaints. I decided to pay and leave, and as we did it was pretty obvious the waiter also didn’t escalate this to anyone in management, as when we went to pay, a lady whose role I’m unsure of asked us how did we like our meal? I replied about the quality of the chips and how they seemed different to before and like frozen chips. She just asked me when I had been there before which was irrelevant and other statements regarding the situation, that made me out to be an idiot, again highlighting a complete lack of training on how to handle feedback or complaints. Due to the handling of this situation by the staff and the quality of food, I won’t come back to the restaurant, if I want some cheap frozen chips, I can go to the...

We booked a table for lunch at 14:00 for 6 people table Everything was okay the food it's was very good but in the end one server came to the table at 15 40 saying that we have to leave because they are under pressure . We pay a bill for 307.67 € and they charge us 28€ for service because the add a 10% straight away in the bill for the tips . They not even live you decide to give a tips to then they just put in the bill even if you don't want to pay a tip they will charge you . And i think is no fair to do this i feel like i don't have choice because they want as to pay a 10 % extra by the face . The server told me that we didn't book a table which is not true because we called before to book the table and he told me like i said to as to leave at 16 :00 because they are more people waiting at 16:00 and he said to me that if we book a table before it's a different history then we can stay more time but we booked before so i don't know what he is talking about but i really don't like the way that he just push as to go from the table . Definitely i will not come back to this place because the way that they charge you obligatory for a money that is a option to pay for the costumer . And then for the old server that he didn't deal with us and came to tell as to go i think...

One of our friends arrived at 6.20pm bus was stuck in traffic. We were there until 8.20pm. Food is lovely can’t complain. I felt they forgot about my booking as the way we were treated. Felt very rushed to get you out the minute you finished your dessert as we were handed the bill right away to pay the manager gave it to the server telling him we needed to leave as we were over our 2 hrs for the table. Staff need to...
