Pearl River — Restaurant in Cork

I have been a customer here for a long time. Their curry is my favourite. I often asked the owners how they made their curry sauce. One of them told me it was a very long detailed process using an array of spices, fruit, vegetables and stocks. I was very impressed . That is until I discovered Mayflower curry sauce mix in my local shop recently. There is a mild and hot version but it’s the hot one the Pearl River use.Identical taste and flavour. Looks like the owners told me a few lies 😂 Anyway, their secret is out. If you like the Pearl River sweet and sour dishes you can now buy the same sauce that they use in Dunnes stores. Been coming here since I was a small kid remember having to either book a table or chance going and not meeting a que coming down the stairs it’s by far the best Chinese I’ve ever had, not your usual Chinese Restaurant where they all have the same food just different names this places food is insanely tasty there ribs in there homemade gravy are to die for I’d drink there gravy if I could the rib meat falls of the bone ive never had ribs like it before :) along with everything else I’ve had in here I was never disappointed portions are extremely generous also you sure as hell won’t be going away hungry it’s defo worth the visit and it’s defo worth trying there ribs in gravy you won’t be...

This is one place I WOULD NOTTTT RECOMMEND first time here I got the starter it was good but the main came out 5 mins after they took the plate from starters it was very rushed service and when we asked for a can of coke the filled a very small glass of coke and they had the remainder of the can I witnessed it and asked can I have the can and they said they can’t give the can on the table even tho been charged full price for a can it was ridiculous 8 of us left the majority of our food behind absolutely rotten 7 of us got our starter and one was waiting for the starter the main was coming out for the rest of us 5 minutes later my friends starter was only coming out I defo wouldn’t be back...
