Atmosphere was great, and I loved the orange and mint infused water, but the food could use some work. For appetizers we got the cheese rolls and the caprese. Both were okay. The caprese could've used more olive oil, and there were only two small cheese rolls (also tasted okay) that looks like skinny egg rolls. If there were 3-4 cheese rolls, that would've been better. The main reason I disliked Nosta is how they cooked the salmon with penne dish. This dish comes in a white wine cream sauce, which sounds heavenly when you read it, but they must've cooked or prepared it differently, causing eat bite of salmon to be squishy and taste like very strong cheap white wine with zero salmon flavor. I tried about four different pieces of salmon, but they each were the same. The sauce on the penne did not have this problem, but the salmon ruined the meal. The garlic bread with that came with the pasta was okay, not great. I felt like the main entree should've been free, but the waiter didn't ask when he cleared my full plate, nor did he notice that our water carafe and glasses were empty for over 10 minutes before we just paid and left. Overall the food was just okay, not great, and the main dish was unfortunately unpleasant to eat. Had the service been spectacular, it may have made up for some of the experience, but I have to rate this one lower than usual as I pretty much had caprese and garlic bread for 21e.

What a terrible and actually scary experience. I'm sitting shaking as I type this. After paying near 30 euro for a so called platter via delivery, I was sent what you see in the picture. Some over cooked meats, some of which was extremly tough and half a tub of rice with a few wilted lettuce leaves and what looks to be half a shop bought tortilla wrap. Truly shocking in itself for the price I paid. They couldn't even seperate the sauce into two tubs as you can see in the pics. When I complained the gentleman actually told me he had my address and threatened me, telling me to basically come fight him and he would put me in my place. For the first time ever, I've had to call the gardai as unfortunately this restaurant has my address which is extremly worrying due to the sheer aggression this man displayed over a simply complaint. In my shame I retaliated and spoke in a way I woukd rather not, however I feel it is partially justified due to the abuse I got.

i had an absolutely wonderful experience at this restaurant! from the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with a warm and friendly atmosphere. the food was simply outstanding — the salmon was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, and the fresh salad was a perfect complement. the seafood salad my friend ordered was also incredible, packed with fresh ingredients and rich flavors. a special shoutout to our waitress, who was an absolute gem! she was incredibly attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed. her recommendations were spot on, and her positive energy made our dining experience even more enjoyable. the service was fast, the portions were generous, and the fresh orange juice was a delightful touch. i will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone I know. a hidden gem that deserves all the praise! thank you for an amazing meal and exceptional service!

“You can’t cover the sun in mud”. Indeed, but it seems you can leave a floor covered in urine without a worry to your sleeping habits. 3/1/23 - Updating to include feedback to the owner’s reply to original.

Since reading your replies to other less favourable ratings, we expected you you to take no responsibility whatsoever. However, thanks for your attempt to be smart with your advice and guidance of checking prices before we dine.

What I actually should have done first was check your disgusting toilets!

It was our choice to visit having seen various prior social media activity which looked very enticing and we made you a ’must do’ on our next visit to Cork City.

You may also note, we both browsed your menus before entering. Including the two that are left on the tables within your outdoors area.

Price is not a barrier to purchase any service or product we may choose. Our shared experiences are invaluable.

We have had the good fortune to pay a lot more for a lot less in many comparable venues.

Simply, we see if there are dishes that are appealing - of which there were actually very many!

However, we do expect the quality of food, service and surrounds to be reflective of price to be charged. Sadly, on this occasion, we were disappointed.

Perhaps you can invest some of the excessive mark up on your minerals to buy a mop, a toilet seat and a top up of soap. Original Review :

End of festive season ‘dad n lad’ treat leaves a sour taste ……..

The relative high price for comparable venues is not reflected in the very average quality.

Albeit the portions for mains are well sized, the accompanying cup of orange rice and little salad sideshow, with a cute addition of €4.50 little bowl of ‘skin on frozen chips’, are pitiful.

Excessive mark up on minerals at €3.90. We see no cans, and see no ice.

Overall, staff were not very engaging between what appeared to be a shift changeover.

Bar staff need to learn to clean cutlery and place without excessive noise of throwing them into the tray. The banging and clanging most noticeable in such a quiet room.

Two others need to learn to chat among themselves in quieter tones away from customers’ table.

To end the disappointing visit, the toilet was swimming with urine on the floor and had a broken seat. Thankfully only needed the stand up version!

The check list sheet on the back of the door had shown nothing checked for a good while. Mentioned to staff when paying €75 bill (two courses x 2, two drinks) but the general attitude seemed to be ‘oh, pay please, and go’.

Replies to other less favourable reviews on here show the arrogance which is apparent throughout. Wish had read them sooner....

Ladies & Gents

I discovered this gem of a Turkish restaurant in early 2023 ironically as a result of a recommendation from a city meeting.

It is situated in a pedestrian side street. It has a lovely ground floor street entrance & ambiance including a section of outdoor seating . To date I have always been met/greeted by a warm friendly welcome after my travels by it’s dedicated loyal hard working team of Barbara Oscar Stephen & Pepe to date. I also met & spoke to Niko it’s owner. A lovely warm friendly gent who knows all about looking after its customers both local & afar.

The decor & setting within is very warm & appealing with plenty of choices of seating areas to suit the couple or group settings.

As with all my travels the 1st place I check are the Loos ( they have always been up to full hygiene standard @ Nosta albeit it would be recommended to have flagrant candles or similar refreshing odours within. Full WC separate toilet. All on ground floor.

Having a family member who is WC bound I can never understand restaurants/pubs advertised as WC friendly & then having such toilets upstairs in way off locations within ( unless proper lifts are within)

Thankfully Nosta is 5 star ⭐️ WC friendly. The choice of menus is amazing from its traditional Turkish kebeps and Kofte to European dishes to suit all taste’s including Vegetarian dietary requests.

Dishes are always 5 ⭐️ and exactly as set out on menus & served very efficiently by its dedicated Team.

Customers can also enjoy their tasty meals amidst the ambiance of its hard working chefs/cooking areas.

This is a gem of a restaurant to visit. Highly recommended One will not be disappointed

One thing I would like to see given the strong Turkish/Mediterranean Cork community connections, it would be so nice for locals/visitors alike to dine amidst the ambience of authentic Turkish musical ambiance.

Just akin to dining in a similar French/Italian restaurant with French/Italian musical setting

A minor matter — everyone may not agree

I look forward to definitely returning...

I went for a dinner at this place with my friends because of the good reviews and high rating scores on internet. But unfortunately we got so disappointed with the taste and flavour of foods here. My friends ordered a coffee, but they said the coffee had terrible taste and flavour like a washing liquid from the coffee machine. They expected to get the real Turkish coffee. Then I ordered spicy minced lamb with rice, which the taste and flavour were exactly like normal Kebab that the price is 5-6 euro. But the bad joke is this Kebab costs 19 euro!!! It is a big disappointed experience that we have had in this place. Also the manager is very rude and mean to us. He was creating a new payment policy that we have not heard from anywhere else. The reason that he created new policy of payment was he didn't want to pay extra to the bank and credit card company. I would give a big red warning text outside of this restaurant that "Please keep away from this place and just go to other real restaurants". The price of foods here is triple times more than the quality you will get. It is really really really disappointed ☹️. To give a suggestion to who is gonna visit this restaurant, "Don't order any desserts, because they don't tell you the price" So they will charge you whatever they want. And I could tell you, they charged us double price compared to the Market Lane restaurant. Not to mention about the flavour and taste of desserts here, I am sorry......it is waaaaaaaaay too far down compared to the...
