The Gallery Cafe, Wine & Tapas Bar (Generally open Tues - Sat) — Restaurant in County Mayo

We took a week long trip to travel around Ireland for our honeymoon. This is the only review I will be writing, which I hope shows how compelled I feel to leave Tom a Five Star review!

Tom was not only knowledgeable, he was passionate about his wines and food, and it showed. All of his wines are organic and the food is sourced from local farmers, with whom he has excellent relationships with. He took the time to ask about our likes/dislikes in wine and pick out the perfect pairing for our charcuterie and cheese board.

He was the only one working that evening and served around 6 tables, single-handedly, preparing all of the organic food and wine behind his bar. That didn't stop him from getting to know us and cracking a few good "dad jokes". It was like we walked into an old friend's place and they were hosting a party we felt very invited to!

The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant with wines, books, games and records lining the walls. There are only a few tables, but it completely makes the environment inviting and intimate. We didn't get to hear any live music, but Tom had a fantastic setlist playing and had a number of posters up for live music/DJs in the upcoming weeks.

If you get the chance to stop by Westport, head to see Tom and have a glass of his fantastic wine. It's very reasonably priced for being organic French and Italian wines. There might be more varieties, but since French and Italian wines are so expensive in the states, we stuck to those.

This was one of the highlights of our trip, and we look forward to meeting Tom again on our next vacation...

Tom provided us with sterling entertainment, warm hospitality and a passion for wine, food and coffee that is unmatched in Westport. The prices are wonderfully reasonable and the advice is well worth following.

We were to eat in An Port Mor across the lane and he advised us to go smaller on the Grazing Board so that we wouldn't fill up too much. This type of service is always much appreciated: not being up-sold for the sake of profit at the cost of a good time.

The macerated orange wine form Sicily was stunning, as were the homemade hummus and fig jam on the board. With plenty of board games to play, a stunning record collection and a gentle hug of an atmosphere, The Gallery Wine bar is one of the nicest beginnings or conclusions to any evening.
