Elephant & Castle — Restaurant in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown

Having dined in the branch in town many times we were delighted when Elephant and Castle opened local to us. We left so disappointed. Throughout our evening we had to consistently ask for staff attention, for childrens menus, to order food, to check on orders. Eye contact from staff members is nil. Our order was taken incorrectly and whilst we understand errors can occur it is not the end of the world, how we were looked after- or not- following on from this error was dreadful. Twice we were told food was on the way and in fact visible from the table for nothing to appear on both occasions for ten minutes. We all ate at different times, service was inconsistent. We were given an apology but told it was busy and a long day for staff so this is why mistakes occurred. Restaurant was not full and whilst that may be the case it is not my concern! We asked if the children have dessert included in the meal and we were told no but we would be given menus. The childrens menus list one dessert option and again they were put on table and we were left for 10minutes before we asked if we could order! When we asked for the bill the manager came to our table and apologised, offering a discount, whilst appreciated i was just glad to be able to voice our disappointment. His professional attitude went a long way but we were quickly brought back to reality as we left the restaurant, passing staff not one said goodbye or thanks. I was there with my friend today and he ordered take away from Wow Burger, which is in the same location with Elephant Castle and as we were waiting for the order, I purchased a spring water from Elephant Castle and we went outside on the terrace to wait for the food to be prepared. The manager came and said we are not allowed to sit there and we should leave as WoW Burger has no terrace and that was Elephant Castle's terrace and I said it's not like there are so many people on the terrace (only 2 tables are of 10-15 were occupied ) plus I did have purchased something from them, even if it was as lil as a spring water. I believe you should really train your staff better, cause that was really rude of him to talk like that.

I understand you are trying to keep everyone safe and I totally agree with this, but I was already sitting there and having a product purchased from your restaurant, and him telling me to leave after I was already there for 5 minutes wouldn't change the fact that they have to sanitize the table. It's just rude to tell someone to leave...What if potential customers take a sit , they go thru the menu and in the end they end up changing their minds and leave. How is that any different to the situation I was in? The table has to be sanitize again... Then you'll go running after the clients to complain that you have to sanitize the table cause they were only sitting there and didn't order anything in the end? One thing is trying to respect the guidelines and another thing...

My family and I went the Elephant and Castle at the Beacon last night, we had a table booked for 8 people. We ordered out food waited 45 minutes. In the meantime my sister came in ordered her food and they brought it within 10 minutes while we were still left waiting for our food. When our food arrive some of the food didn’t come and my 9 year old nephew had to wait another 10 minutes after we were served our food. So basically our table was served food for a half hour duration. I had to ask twice for the missing food and on the third ask it was infuriating. My mom ordered what was on the menu as chicken potato and green beans and got a plate of mash with 2 tiny pieces of chicken dumped on top surrounded by what we call gravy but they call juice. There was coriander in the food which she can’t eat and to be fair there was no mention of coriander on the menu. She asked where were her green beans and the reply was that green beans are extra even though it states on the menu that it came with green beans. The manager came to our table and would you believe was arguing with me making a holy show of us in front of our guest from Australia. The entire evening was ruined. On a brighter note and when we eventually got our good the chips and wings were delicious so top marks there but to charge €2.95 for the tiniest ramekin of peppered sauce was outrageous. Because of the bad hospitality I will not be returning, not to that particular...
