I can't believe anyone could give this remarkable place (the locals call it Fitzi's) fewer than five stars. It's one of the nicest bars I've been to anywhere the world, located in a gorgeous brick building with beautiful wood decor throughout. Friendly locals and staff. Enjoy a perfectly-poured pint of Guinness for just €5.50, plus they have excellent pizza including a delicious €12 vegan option, which is a huge meal for one or a generous snack for two. I might decide to move to Sandycove for a winter just so I can become a regular here—it's that good.

One of my favourite pubs. The Guinness is perfect, the folks working there are all friendly and excellent and keeping the place running. There’s a James Joyce theme to the bar (including copies of his books you can borrow to read) and they allow dogs which means you’re constantly distracted from your amazing Guinness and Joyce novels by lovely wee dogs coming in and out. A great pub.

Wonderful old pub full of character and focused on James Joyce and the Forty Foot memorabilia. Recently became under new management, youngish clientele at certain times and days but room for all ages and interests. Pleasant, courteous staff and very quick service. Reasonable pricing in keeping with the general area.

Went here for drinks and family catch-up during an evening.

Great vibe, busy place, but table service for drinks which was amazing!!!! Such friendly staff.

Very clean toilets.

Really quick to be served at the bar!

There was a 60th birthday that had taken some of the tables and were very well looked after, and even offered their abundant catering with the rest of the pub when they couldn’t finish it!

We all had a few sing songs at the end of the night, and no trouble or pressure from the staff to finish up drinks or leave, which is truly a joy to...

This iconic Sandycove pub is a traditional establishment, with the added bonus of serving excellent pizza. A pint & a pizza - heaven. Its welcoming vibe, friendly helpful staff, keep the locals coming; the TV is not intrusive so sports fans can enjoy whatever on. There's tables outside and a happy atmosphere within - all the ingredients of a great pub. Drop in & have a Guiness. BTW, Bloomsbury is coming so the month of June is a great time to see Sandycove, including Fitzgeralds, celebrate James Joyce....
