Disappointing experience. Had been looking forward to trying the food here as had tried to book a number of times but was always full which is usually a good sign however that doesn’t seem to be the case in this instance. Service seriously lacking. Having made a reservation we were left standing at the host station for quite awhile before anyone even acknowledged us even though multiple staff members walked passed or were standing around. The restaurant itself wasn’t full. After being seating it took over 30 minutes for our food order to be taken however we were informed at this stage that we had been given the wrong menus so new menus were given and the waitress informed us she’d be back in 2 minutes however this was not the case and we had to get up to ask someone to take our order 10-15 minutes later. Food itself was served promptly and was good, also the server who was running the food (small female, dark hair, possibly Portuguese?) was excellent, friendly and attentive unfortunately she wasn’t our waitress so following the food being brought to the table we were again ignored. We were never offered further drinks or asked how our meals were. The roast beef dinner was tasty, beef was good quality and cooked nicely however it is advertised that it comes with Yorkshire pudding which it did not with. All other meals were as listed. There are lots of wait staff working in the restaurant however there seems to be no manager/supervisor and it really shows. Restaurant staff were standing at the tills but were actually on their phones or chatting to one another with their backs turned to customers so very difficult to get their attention. The pub itself is great, lovely atmosphere and no issues with our drinks. Drink serving staff also very friendly and drinks served promptly so issues seem to be with restaurant service rather than bar. Prices are in keeping with the area. I would return again as the food itself overall was good and it is a nice pub however huge improvements could be made with service if you implemented a restaurant supervisor or manager to oversee staff and ensure tables are being...

I have eaten here a number of times since it opened and I am always impressed with the food, particularly the specials.

I recently had a Mexican Taco special which was excellent and really flavourful - fantastic value at €17.

On Sunday just gone I had their Taste of the Sea special which comprised of two dressed oysters, some hake in a light batter, a prawn chorizo tapas dish and dressed crab salad and two slices of grilled sour dough @ €35 for two people

This was superbly presented and tasted delicious, very impressive for pub food, however, there was not enough food for two people (3 prawns divided by two does not compute) I would have happily paid €40 for this dish if it was going to fill me.

On a separate note, the pricing on the alcohol is way out of kilter with a small village setting. I was charged €7 for a session pale ale - this drink is lower in alcohol which means lower duty so there is not justification for a €7 price tag other than scalping customers. I mentioned this to the bar man serving me but he seemed disinterested in my feedback.

The same goes for West Coast Cooler Rose - grossly over priced at €6.50 for a 25cl can @ 4% abv!!

Its a pity the owners have priced the alcohol so high as I would stay for a few drinks after my food, instead I have to upsticks and walk up to Fitzies for a more reasonably...

Great atmosphere for a drink however it is pricey... 6 euro for a Guinness. The interior is nice but it is a large space so you can nearly hear an echo if it is quite inside. The "restaurant" is where this place really let's itself down. Four of us asked about the food while seated in the lounge. We were handed a food menu but told we couldn't eat in the lounge. Okay not the end of the world but we were also told the "restaurant" was booked up for the next 1.5 hours. To summarize the rest of our experience - food menu was extremely limited (5 or 6 options for mains), no restaurant atmosphere as the noise of a packed pub watching the world cup is only meters away, waiting staff were excellent, food took 35 mins to arrive, chicken wings were really disappointing, onion rings were even worse!, the food was priced similar a high end establishment with nowhere near the quality and worst of all we had lost out seats in the lounge when we returned from our food.

With no shortage of quality restaurants in the area (Daata, Rassam, Cavistons etc) the future of this pub lies with fostering a quality spot for having drink's in the locality OR pivoting to capitalize on the underserved...

So ordered the fish and chip with small hot and spicy chicken wings. My friend order fish and chips and other friend ordered large sweet and spicy Chicken wings. I think the chef just didn’t want to make a separate bowl for the hot and spicy cause I got the same wings as my friend just in a small portion. I asked for no mushy peas with my fish and I was asked would I like a different side instead and I asked could I have the mash and I was told yes. For €18 something for the fish and chips was so not worth value for money. The portion of fish was so small it looked like a kids portion. Then asked for the bill and to be seen to be charge for the mash potatoe that I asked if I would like a different side instead of the peas. It was a lovely small piece of fish but I wouldn’t be back in a rush. Fish looks like a big piece but it wasn’t

Unbelievably noisy experience Sat 27/1/24. Staff overworked but very helpful. Starter was excellent (Chorizo prawns) but main was tasteless (unseasoned?). Staff offered to replace but I couldn't stand the waste or idea of waiting in that noisy atmosphere. Whoever thought a bare ceiling was a good idea needs to redo their architects apprenticeship. Eagle House was a great pub. I'll book seat in bar if I have to eat at Greedy Eagle again (or go upstairs to the excellent Rasam). Next pub we went to had music and was actually full (all tables occupied) but was several db quieter than Greedy Eagle restaurant.

Came here on a quiet Monday lunchtime and enjoyed good food and excellent service. Recent renovations are of a high standard. Bar area retains a nice traditional atmosphere and two additional restaurant areas offer more dedicated dining experiences - both could be separated off from the bar for private functions too, and one is a lovely bright glass-roofed space. Our light lunch choices were very good and staff were friendly, polite, and efficient. A new favourite spot for me. I was impressed by the quality of the staff training going on in the background during our visit too.
