My review is not just about the food quality or how nice the services were. Its more about how we came to this place by accident and ended the loving the manager (Tim) and the Irish. I will try to be as curt as possible. Me and my wife were in the vicinity at the National Botanical Garden (NBG) next to the pub, the stupid tourist that we are visiting from Canada fogot that we had parked our car in the NBG and wandered off. And by the time we came back the parking was closed. We were leaving for Canada the next day and the car with our passports and documents were locked in the parking lot. We tried calling out and different entrances nothing worked. We decided to go to the near-by pub and call 'Guarda' (or Police) which didn't help on a Saturday evening. Here comes TIM the manager, we explain him the situation. Turns out he was quite popular with his customers and he managed to find the contact details of the director of NBG. While we waited for the call back, this kind man walked with me to NBD, stood by me for an hour or so giving me company, while I waited for a guard change or a glimpse of security personnel. After a point when I said I might have to jump the gates to get my documents, he went ahead and offered me a ladder. I almost cried inside, because of this stranger who was trying to help us. Lo-behold the phone rings, he's managed to reach Shawn or Sean, who is an american living inside the NBG compound, who welcomed me 'Hello thr, my friend from North of the border'. I was super relieved and I got my car and my documents back. I went back to pick up my wife who was elated. I asked how could I repay this man for his kindness, he took nothing and offered me a coffee for all the troubles. I'm touched by this person, his friendly and kind demeanor . His willingness to help a stranger in need. I will forever remember this man. Please visit this pub, its a friendly place run by real human being. Thank him for me (Neil, who locked his car inside NBG), he'll remember. Thank...
Read moreCalled in today after a ceremony at a local church- I recommended The Tolka House to the group as we eat there at least once a week as a family. It was a little after 12 and practically empty. We intended to mark the occasion with tea/coffee-a celebration cake and then have some lunch as a group of 7. We had previously been advised that reservations cannot be taken on a Sunday-which was fair enough. We opened a tab and ordered drinks. One of our party had to leave early so we asked for some plates to cut our cake. We were told permission would have to be sought first…a few moments later we were approached in a very indiscreet manner to advise “as he would put it-you wouldn’t bring a pizza to a restaurant to eat it”!!! We were stunned at the manner of delivery and lack of discretion involved-especially as there was a young child present whose celebration it was. Had we been asked to pay a cost towards plates etc. we’d have been more than happy to do so. So with a tearful 8 year old who had just been baptised-we paid our tab and left. The irony is not lost on us that we personally witnessed many tables in this establishment recently commandeered by numerous confirmation parties-all of whom had box cakes and balloons on the tables…so no consistency in their policy! Not one of us present today will ever spend another penny in The Tolka House-and we are all locals. Woeful customer service from management And very...
Read moreWhere to start 🤔 Maybe start with the 🌟 for the rating. If I could give it 6 stars I would 💯 percent give the tolka house 6 stars. Why you may ask? Well Everytime we go in on a Saturday early evening we are always welcomed and greeted by the really friendly staff and always seated no matter if the seats are reserved.
The staff are so helpful and polite especially today arriving a little later than usual and the only seats available were reserved but the friendly staff allowed us to use the table and seats all the way up to 7 as time stated for reservation.
The food is brilliant 👌. The food that's comes from the kitchen straight to your table is always roasting and never cold. You never wait mad amounts of time for a simple meal. You always get served looked after and order taken all within 30 minutes of arriving.
The atmosphere within the tolka house is always bright vibrant and welcoming.
I have never had a bad service from the place and never will as they are real people with real understandings.
If you are in the area and looking for a nice hot meal and a place to relax this is definitely the top spot for all you drinking/gatherings and birthday celebrations.
We love this place and I'm sure you will also.
Keep up the great work as honestly you won't get a service like this...
