Had a stay-over here awaiting my return flight. Its an old fashioned small house hotel with sitting room and restaurant on a suburban street near the botanic gardens. This is the kind of place you used to see commonly in the Isles before the advent of antiseptic chain hotels; it is *exactly* my cup of tea. Fawlty Towers without Basil or Manuel. The bed was so comfortable, the staff welcoming, friendly, and efficient, and my pub-style dinner of vegetable soup and roast beef was fortifying and plentiful. They accommodated my early arrival and took good care of me whilst there. A few things I didn’t care for - instant coffee, the strong smell of cleaning products, and a bit worn decor, but my room was sparkling clean, the bed extremely comfortable, and a great sense of kindness and local flavor. If you can’t handle anything less than complete generic sterility, stay elsewhere, but if you’d like to experience an atmosphere of Irish hostelry reminiscent of the before times, by all means book a room. My sincere thanks to the staff for a restorative stay.

I stayed there 3 nights during my visit in Dublin... I was welcomed by one of the kindest and helpful receptionists called Michaele The hotel is located in Drumcondra and there is very good connection to the city by bus both end of the street. This area is clean, silent and it is perfect for individuals arriving here to step out of the busy routine. The breakfast is between 7:30-10:30 with option for both continental and full Irish breakfast, vegetarians are also welcome. Regarding the room, well it was the funniest shape I have experienced, being long but hardly 1.5 metres wide. My overall experience was positive and I can certainly recommend for others if you don't want to spend a fortune on accommodation but you want a pleasant stay.

Top marks for service, very friendly workers that make you feel like they're helping out a friend rather than attending a customer. Rooms are very neat, some parts look somewhat dated, spotted a stain on one of the decorative pillows, but other than that, you could tell every care was taken to provide the guest with a neat and clean room. Location-wise, it is about a 30 minute walk from the center (more like 35 minutes perhaps). The surrounding area is residential (unless you walk for a bit) so very calm and quiet. The area looks and feels safe. It is fairly easy to park the car around and if you don't need to be in the center, the location is ideal to drive out. I'd be happy to stay here again in the future.

stayed at the Maples House Hotel on the night of 05/10, and I must say, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had—especially as someone who travels frequently. I’m appalled by the complete lack of professionalism and consideration during my stay. First, the hotel was advertised on Booking.com as being 11 minutes from the city center. In reality, it was a 40-minute walk—not even close to the advertised time. After a long journey, this misleading information was incredibly frustrating and added unnecessary stress. Upon arriving around 9 pm, the receptionist asked if my name was Adriana and handed me a paper to sign—without bothering to check my ID or credit card, as is required by your own policy. This lack of basic security is extremely concerning and unacceptable. But the most shocking issue was the unbearable noise from what seemed to be at least one wedding or function happening directly below our room. The noise level was beyond excessive—the room was literally shaking. It was impossible to sleep. I checked the "Functions" section of your website before booking, and it stated that nothing was scheduled. Neither the receptionist I spoke with at 2 pm nor the one at 9 pm mentioned anything about a wedding or event, which I find difficult to believe was a surprise. It feels like deliberate negligence. Around 10:00-10:30 pm, I tried to find staff for assistance—no one was available. I called from the room phone multiple times and received no answer. Finally, around 11 pm, I called the number listed on your website, and the bartender answered. While he was polite and apologetic, he admitted there was nothing he could do except try to ask the DJ to turn it down, knowing full well the rooms were shaking from the noise. He also informed me there was no manager on-site, which is absolutely baffling for a night with a major event happening. The night porter, George, eventually showed up around 11:15 pm, and instead of helping, he was outright rude and accusatory. He claimed we should have known about the music because it’s listed on the website—this is an insult. I’ve attached a screenshot showing that there was no mention of a function. George had a dismissive, unprofessional attitude, adding insult to injury while we were already frustrated, exhausted, and unable to sleep. His explanation that the music would stop at midnight was also false—the noise continued until about 1 am. At this point, I was completely appalled by the lack of care, support, and basic service. There was no manager to escalate the issue to, no staff available when we needed them, and no clear communication about a function that ruined our entire stay. We didn’t get any rest, which was the entire point of booking this hotel. It’s outrageous that a hotel would put on such an event without notifying guests or providing any alternative arrangements. As for the room, it was subpar at best. The door to Room 24 barely opens because the bed is obstructing it, which is an obvious and serious fire hazard. The bathroom was so cramped that I couldn’t even dress after a shower. The overall setup was unacceptable for a supposedly professional establishment. The next morning, there was no apology, no attempt to check if our stay was okay, and certainly no offer of a resolution. This lack of basic courtesy only solidified the impression that guests' well-being is not a priority at all. This experience has been completely unacceptable from start to finish. Not only was it impossible to sleep, but the disregard for guests and the absence of basic communication is...

Do not waste your money to stay at this hotel. I would absolutely not recommend staying here ever. The service is completely unacceptable.

It was well after 10PM and there was incredibly loud music blasting from the bar downstairs. As well as lots of shouting and screaming from the people at the bar. When we called to complain and ask for the music to be turned down we were told that was not a possibility because they were having a birthday celebration downstairs and that the music would be going until midnight. The person we talked with said they were the bartender. We asked to speak to a manager and were told there was no manager on staff and that the person working didn’t even have a phone number for the manager or the night porter. This is also contradictory to what is said when booking that there is 24/7 reception.

The info email on their business cards and website is also not a working email as our attempts to email were bounced back.

The rooms are very small. It was hot in the room and no way to really cool it down as the windows barely open. The sink in the bathroom does not drain properly as well.

The fire alarm went off at 6:30AM… (there was no emergency or fire)

It seems this hotel cares more about people booking them for a venue than they do the paying customers who are here to stay. They say on their website to come enjoy fine Irish hospitality, but the experience is not hospitable in the slightest. Easily the worst we have been treated at any place we’ve stayed in our whole time in Ireland. They should probably decide whether or not they want to be a party and event venue or a hotel. They don’t seem equipped to be...
