Basically a pub, but with good food choices and telly showing whatever is popular. There is a pool table, games such as connect4 for a couple or Jenga for a group for those wanting a bit of entertainment. Nice atmosphere and comfortable setting. There are booths available if you don't like hard back chairs. Staff are lovely and friendly. Easy to order as long as your not in a rush and patient enough. I think the reviews don't do them justice as the set-up is random of who is covering what. The guys behind the bar also come out to serve so you may not have the same person who sat you down with the menu, so perhaps may explain why people have complained about service which is a shame.
Those here tonight are being fed as soon as the food is ready and have their drinks being replaced with another round. Problem probably is that not one person is taking care of you, but our experience has been great. Had two members of staff ask if we are being taken of and Liam was spot on with taking our order and taking payment (which in some places in England can take forever!!). Hence my stars.
Food is well presented and well cooked. The Thai curry wasn't very spicy but we put that down to tolerance of the the average Joe who probably visits here often. Was more sweet than spicy because of the concentrated coconut milk but that didn't take away from the meal as it quickly vanished and left a clean plate.
I had the Salmon on basil mash with broccohli stems (was meant to be with carrots glazed with honey, but since they ran out of the ribs, put it down to that) but my meal was still yummy with the salmons skin nice and crispy the way so quickly polished that no problem. Wine list is great. Never seen such a good list in any pub! Good choices available for palates.
Only comment to owner's is that you don't need to switch lights off so early...some of us like to see what we are eating. There's ambience and just sitting in the dark with no overhead lights as the candle doesn't provide enough light I'm afraid. Could have done with a bit more light to allow us to read the menu easily. Dont really require a booking, but if your a big group then best to let them have a heads up to reserve large enough space. I would come here again to work through their menu. Wednesday is wings day people. Buy one get one free... any small or large bucket and get same...
Read morehI recently visited the GasWorks Bar with a group of friends, excited to enjoy a night out in what is often described as a fantastic establishment with a vibrant atmosphere. The bar itself lived up to its reputation in terms of ambiance and overall experience. However, I must admit that my visit was marred by an unfortunate encounter with one of the staff members, Roman.
First and foremost, I cannot praise the GasWorks Bar enough for its atmosphere. The place exudes a warm and inviting vibe, with its stylish decor, well-designed seating areas, and an extensive drink menu. The live music added to the overall enjoyment, making it a perfect spot for socializing and relaxation.
However, my enthusiasm took a hit when I had an interaction with Roman, one of the staff members. Unfortunately, his behavior was far from the friendly and welcoming attitude I expected from the rest of the staff. Roman came across as rather rude and dismissive, which put a damper on my evening. This attitude left a lasting negative impression on my experience at the GasWorks Bar.
While one unpleasant interaction shouldn't overshadow the entire experience, it's essential for any establishment to ensure that all their staff members maintain a consistently high level of customer service. The GasWorks Bar has the potential to be an exceptional place, and it's my hope that they address such issues with their staff to maintain their well-deserved reputation.
In conclusion, the GasWorks Bar is undeniably a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy a night out with friends, thanks to its vibrant atmosphere and overall charm. However, my experience was soured by the discourteous behavior of one staff member, Roman. I sincerely hope that the management takes steps to address such incidents and ensure that all patrons are treated with the respect and courtesy...
Read moreDuring my time in Dublin 2, I found the experience to be somewhat monotonous, and, in general, it did not fully meet my expectations. While I made frequent visits to 'The Waterbank of Grand Canal Hotel' for lunch, typically around 12:30 PM when the venue was less crowded, I must admit that the overall atmosphere of the area left much to be desired. The food at the restaurant was consistently good, with my usual choices being the soup of the day, fries, and occasionally dessert. At that point, I was not following a strict diet, as the months were challenging, and I had to adapt accordingly.
The restaurant's location, conveniently near the Grand Canal and key office buildings, is one of its notable advantages. The staff were always friendly and accommodating, contributing positively to my dining experience. However, I found that the area can be quite congested, which detracted from my overall experience. Given these factors, I doubt I would choose to return in the future. Despite these personal observations, 'The Waterbank of Grand Canal Hotel' remains a solid option for those in the vicinity, offering a pleasant environment, friendly service, and reliable...
