Just popped in to have an early bird meal at five past five this evening as we were heading down the country 23/12/20 with my daughter and was very happy to get a table with out having booked as it was empty of people at the time. Both of us were wearing our face masks in keeping with the latest covid regulations and with respect to everyone else. The lady on the desk who hadn't any mask on or visor proceeded to check to see if she had a table, then checked our temperature and brought us to our table ,At this point we asked her that we wanted the early bird menu which was priced around 24 euros for two courses served between five and seven pm .I picked up a menu from the table and asked her specificly is this the early bird menu and she told us yes it is. My daughter was fairly unhappy that this lady was not wearing a mask while attending to us and so was I. She also saw at the time that some of the chef's also had no masks on although later on I did notice that as the restaurant was filling up they had put them on and also the lady had put a visor on. Due to the increase in covid cases in Ireland we believe that is unacceptable behaviour by your staff on your restaurants behalf when your member of staff was dealing with us especially in these terrible times. As we felt rather uncomfortable by this situation we ate our starters and main course quickly and decided to leave and pay our bill at the counter. Believing that our meal would come to around 50 euros as I had one portion of nan bread which is an extra charge I was astonished to then look at my bill which came to 73.50 euros and when I questioned this amount and stated that we had the early bird meal which we where told by the lady that is what we had. I was further embarrassed by the man behind the counter who's reply back to me was that I had the Christmas meal which was 35 euros per head and he would also have overheard our waiter who passed by asking us both where we not staying for our desserts. At least in good customer relations and business sense at least he could have deducted the difference in the price of the desserts which we didn't want and I would have left it at that .Now I found my dealings with your restaurant tonight has led me to make this complaint and just to say you gave me no other option as I didn't like to cause any scene or embarasment to anyone especially my young daughter. Nobody in Business likes to have unhappy customers and a very sour taste in their mouths but Unfortunately by my experience tonight in your restaurant you now have two. PS Any reponce telling me that you are very sorry to hear this and my grievance will be sent on to the management is not good...
Read moreA really lovely decor and nice ambience. But don't be fooled. The meals were nice although butter chicken was extremely sweet so much that it felt sickening after a few bites. The problem started when we ordered chai after the meal, again felt like they poured more sugar than tea in the cup. Next was the dessert. The kulfis are nothing like how kulfis should taste like. They were icy, tasted like they were made using the generic bottled mango pulp they make lassis with, not good texture or taste, again the amount of sugar! We ordered 3 desserts, and we only worked through only 25% of two of them and didn't touch one which we asked to send back and the waiters at that point forced us to send all of them back. Later a manager who seemed unhappy about our complaints came over to say they only are going to cancel the untouched one. As they make their desserts extremely sweet because people want sugary desserts after spicy meals, where none of the meals we ordered were "spicy" explained by the man who took our order. Fair enough, and we were only sending back that untouched one. But again, why did your waiter force us to take all of them away when we even told them that we can work through the ones we already started eating, suggesting "Don't eat it if you don't like it". The whole attitude of the staff from that interaction was negative, like we only had to say good things about their food even if we didn't like it. The service is poor and the staff needs better training, with a better manager who learns a few bits about customer service. And learn to take the dissatisfaction about your food and make some changes to your recipes. The defensiveness in the staff...
Read moreWell designed interior, and is kept warm. Pompadoms, rice and naan were adequate. Front of house was friendly, but the other staff came across as disinterested and rude. They also seemed annoyed we had questions about menu items, and cut me off when asking a question about the Kadak Chai perhaps I hit my question limit for the day? Dhaka Lamb Curry wasn't sweet but did lack flavour, the Butter Chicken was way too sweet, like they used tablespoons not teaspoons to measure the sugar. Sadly this was also the case for everything else we tried on the menu, Kadak Chai was very sweet. Finishing the drink felt like a challenge, now for the dessert, Mango Kulfi, cutting into it felt more like ice than cream, and had an extreme amount of sugar, the sugar from the butter chicken and tea was already so ovepowering, this desserts sugar content was at least double what it should have been. We didn't touch the Tiramisu we ordered, which we sent back, and they were not happy about removing it from our bill. Even though we were ever so slowly picking away at the Kulfi, they decided to remove them from us and the waiter said something along the lines of "you don't have to forcefully eat it" and charged us for them anyway, the manager then came to the table and said "That's how we make it", and walked away. No feedback taken onboard and came across very impolite and annoyed we had anything negative to say. If they stopped dumping half a bag of sugar into every menu item the place wouldn't be bad. But if you have a sweet tooth, and want to get rid of it by making yourself sick of sugar. Come here, and you won't eat anything...
