Boy I don’t even know where to start. I love Italian food and I can say Im pretty experienced diner, but this was probably one of the worst experiences for me to date. I wanted to celebrate my birthday and selected this restaurant, to my now regret. I booked it way in advance (a month in advance) online, paid 50€ deposit to book. Arrived promptly to find out our table isn’t ready as they messed up my booking. Anyway long story short we waited 30mins to get the table, no complimentary drinks for their mess-nothing. We ordered food…and waited for over an hour for it to arrive. Dishes didn’t look too complicated so not sure why it took so long, I understand the restaurant has takeaway as well, that’s probably why. They’re overwhelmed and don’t really care about the service they provide, clients satisfaction or the food they serve. We ordered 5 pasta dishes and one chicken dish, two carbonara pastas were so salty, we had to send one back. The chef only said it was supposed to be like this, so by his opinion the pasta was perfectly fine. It was not edible , and we are not picky eaters, we love good food, but this was far from it. Ravioli looked horrendous, no care to how they serve the dishes either. The “special of the day” was ok, but not for the price I paid for it (the server never actually mentioned the price, I would never order it otherwise). 32€ for a pasta dish with seafood (with some shells from mussles and shells from prawns too!), pretty Michellin star price for a very mediocre meal. Never again, we didn’t even get any dessert, wanted to leave asap. Wont be recommending to anyone. Sorry guys but there is just no positives here, I am just sorry I booked this place for a birthday celebration, I feel like I don’t even want to remember this and need somewhere else to go and...
Read moreI feel like I only leave a review if the food/service is either really bad or really good. Unfortunately this is one of those really bad times. I went for a birthday dinner with a group of girls and honestly we are not fussy, we’ve been in all sorts of places and always approach with a positive attitude as long as the service and atmosphere is nice. Case in point a few months ago at one of our regular catch ups we ate at a sushi restaurant in Swords that forgot our order and we were sitting for a hour waiting. When we asked the waiter where our food was and they realised the mistake they approached it so well, apologised and offered a free bottle of wine and we honestly didn’t mind the wait because of the way they handled it. In fact we are now regulars there and the forgetful waiter still got a tip. At this place they had messed up the booking and we had to stand for 30 minutes waiting. The way they approached the delay almost seemed like we were an inconvenience to them rather than the fact that they had made a mistake. when we did get the table we had to wait an hour for our food so although we had arrived at 6:30 we ended up eating at 8. At this point we were so hungry the majority of us ate our food even though it was not to our liking. My ravioli was the saddest grey mess l have seen. This place does seem to be primarily a pizza place and I will say the pizza did look good. I would’ve loved to come back and try it but honestly I don’t wanna step foot in there again. I used to work in hospitality and I’ve dealt with plenty of customers that were not happy with the food or had to wait for a table mix up and I know there is a way to handle it in a way where this review would never have...
Read moreI gave a one star rating entirely for the nice decor but had to give zero score for the tiny portions of food which were bland, cold and far too over priced.
You can save yourself €40 (per person) and buy a Dr.Oetker frozen pizza from the local supermarket because it’s exactly the same taste and texture... only the oven pizza will be hot when it’s ready.!
The rubber textured pasta at Pomodorino (Italian for cherry tomato) was dismal and the sauce thrown over the top of it makes a jar of Dolmio taste mouth wateringly delicious.
Having previously lived in Italy I can honestly say that anybody who gives this place more than two stars has obviously never ventured out of Ireland and certainly not to Italy and tasted the authentic style of cooking. Just because the Brazilian “cook” (thrower of food/tepid slop on a plate) has Italian ancestors, does not qualify him as an authentic Italian chef.
Very annoyed with the entire ordeal in this establishment and left with my wallet feeling very light and my belly still hungry for food... decent food.
Swords needs a good Italian eatery and this certainly isn’t it.
If you’re looking for a excellent take away meal then head to Sanuk Thai on North Street (2 minute walk from this gruesome experience) or if you would like a decent sit in meal just cross over the road straight into The Spice of India. Either of these eateries will save you between €25 & €40 PER PERSON and you will be highly fulfilled with both service and taste.
Overall verdict: Avoid...
