Carnitas Mexican Grill — Local services in Fingal

Had Carnitas mexican grill for the first time this evening. I ordered the beef tacos, beef burrito and Mexican spicy potatoes. With my order I got three dip pots: Smokey, Classic salsa and Guacamole.

Positives - Cool decor, (love the Mexican skulls) and very friendly staff. The girl serving me was very nice and she did a great job of explaining the different options.

Negatives - The food. The beef was dry and flavourless. It was like it was cooked last week, reheated and served. The Mexican potatoes, where under cook the sauce was disgusting and again flavourless. The dips were terrible, bar the smokey one that was OKish.

I love Mexican food and having read the reviews online I assumed I was in for treat this evening but I was very disappointed.

Irish Mexican couple here, we ordered the corn hot pot as a starter, it's the saddest thing we've ever tasted, it seems like it's just the corn that comes frozen semi-hot and with cream, you'd think they forgot to add the seasoning, it doesn't have any flavor. The burrito bowl doesn't taste like anything, the barbacoa has no flavor at all, you cant taste any ingredient and had too many pieces of fat, I ordered mango salsa that had 3 out of 4 degrees of spiciness and was too sweet (even for my irish partner)!!! The tacos were a little greasy, they left our lips very buttery, the only delicious one was the chicken. It was a very sad experience for both an Irish and a Mexican. Even the mexican atmosphere was missing. You're either Mexican or Mexicant...CARNITAS...

I've ordered here now at least 3 times and have been really happy. Swords desperately needed an authentic Mexican place and I am delighted they opened (and not one of the big chains).

It is really only for takeaway / delivery (I hope they open a bigger place someday for sit in).

The food is great, I've got the burrito before but recently have been enjoying the tacos and nachos. The salsa pots are gorgeous, I particularly love the mango one. Having been to Mexico, I find the tacos very authentic (though a few more al pastor flavours would be great to add).

Deliveries naturally can be slow as they rely on Justeat. I wish they had an independent delivery to avoid Just Eat charges but I underatand this can be hard for a...
