We were looking for somewhere to have a meal in Killarney and stumbled upon Hilliard’s in the high street. Having had a look at the menu we were instantly put at ease with how clear the menu was and the range of lovely dishes available.
The first thing I noticed once inside is it dose t matter how well dressed you are for this place you could never look better than Hilliard’s does inside, whoever designed this place is a genius, the atmosphere was incredible and the lovely waiting staff just added to the experience, lovely volume of relaxing music. Even the toilets are amazing.
But what’s important here is the food, I had the fillet Steak and my wife had the paella, we were both very happy with our food and the cocktails we had for dessert. The 8oz fillet steak was cooked to perfect a sauce was lovely and the accompanying vegetables were nicely cooked. The portion was a little light for me so I ordered some double cooked chips. The Cocktails were amazing and satisfying, I had the espresso martini (Mr Biggles, I think that’s what it was called ) which was soooooo nice, the drinks menu is something to behold, I mean WOW what incredible choice.
We have allergies and the staff were pleasant and knowledgeable and were happy to find out and everything was marked on the menu too.
Looking forward our next visit when we’re back in...
Read moreWe arrived at 19:00, 15 minutes before our reservation, after ordering our food and drinks it took 45 minutes for the starter to arrive and after we finished the starters (10 minutes after) we finally received our drinks (2 tap beers, 2 cocktails and 1 bottle drink). Then the long wait started..
It took in total 1 hour and 45 min after the drinks for our mains to arrive, by that time we had lost our appetite (we where about to walk out and get something else). The food itself was nothing special, the 31 euro stake I ate was very small and not worth the price, the fish and chips was terrible. It seems this place has issues with their kitchen staff, we would have appreciated if the server was honest with us so we could have gone somewhere else.
I would not recommend this restaurant for anything they...
Read moreLunch- popped in as a Friday lunch time treat as heard good things regarding their dinners. I was seated and chose an open ham sandwitch option as it sounded lovely. It was well presented, but there wasn't a burst of flavours as I thought there would be, as the description it sounded amazing. It's was also EXTREMELY dry. I asked the waitress for mayonase but still I left half the bread as it was so dry. The ham was more like thick bacon, not my cup of tea. When the waitress asked how it was I said not what I expected and it was extremely dry. On leaving their was no sign of the waitress and I was charged full price and there was no mention of my complaint. Left disappointed and for 13€ it was...
