My family and I have been regular weekend customers of Harpers over the last few years and have always felt welcomed unfortunately today this wasn't the case.
My mum had ordered a ham sandwich as usual. When the sandwich was brought out the ham was dry, dark in colour and didn't taste right. We asked the waitress to check this with the chef who said the ham was fine. My mum decided she did not want the sandwich as it didn't taste right and asked could she have something else instead which the waitress said no problem.
When we were leaving they charged us for the sandwich. The waitress apologised but at the same time asked did my mum want to take the sandwich in a bag as she appeared to feel bad that the management had ordered her to charge us for it. My mum said no as the ham wasn't editable but the waitress reiterated that the chef said it was fine and it was just the "end of the ham". I pointed out that they shouldn't be serving the end of a ham and many restaurants would be understanding particularly to loyal customers and would offer a refund.
It is extremely disappointing that this had to happen especially when we have supported the business for a number of years. I would expect the management to use their common sense and listen when a loyal customer who has never sent food back in this restaurant before. Read moreMy mom and i went into harpers last week and it was lovely we sat right in at the cubby chairs which was perfect as im 9 months pregnant and it so comfy.. however we went in yesterday the 7th of august 2018 and we were told we cannot sit there as its a 4 person seat my mom explained i was pregnant and that the table the girl had offered us had backless stools which for health and safety reasons i couldnt possibly sit on that.. my mom asked well is the 4 person table reserved she said no its not reserved its just there are only two of you.. in total disregard that i was pregnant and just wanted to sit down and have lunch like we did the previous week in the (4 person seat) so can i ask is this a new policy or was i just mistreated just so i can spread the word to everyone we also walked out as we were made stand there and argue over a chair with your ever so not friendly staff member we went to the SALT HOUSE and it was just amazing so accommodating im shocked at how harpers treated us. Read moreMy experience is normally very good in this place. However I went today (13th November 2021) and it was very disappointing. A friend of mine ordered the carbonara and couldn't finish it as the carbarona was cold. When we mentioned it to one of the staff members, then the male staff member came over and was very rude. He started off by saying that it shouldn't be bad as it was selling great today and no one else complained. He took the carbonara dish away because he only gave us the option to buy a new dish or take it home. After this, we became extremely uncomfortable as I could see him staring at us from the till and whispering to another member of staff. After this experience, I didn't want to complain about my burger as I didn't feel uncomfortable in doing so.
