Golden Jade — Restaurant in Waterford

First time to order from here. The food arrived very quickly, well before the Just Eat time which was suspicious. The King Prawn Curry had only a few prawns compared to our usual place. The curry did not taste like chinese takeaway curry, very little flavour and not spicy. The fried rice was yellow and tasteless, had no soy sauce like every other place. The Veg Curry was lukewarm and barely cooked. The Chicken Satay meat was pink and tasted bloody, veg also hardly cooked and the sauce was very very sweet. I have never tasted satay like that before. The bit of veg in all dishes was incipid and tasted like it was boiled in water, big chunk of onion, carrots and a about 2 pieces of green pepper. The chicken also tastes like it was boiled in water and rubbery. The dishes and contents were tasteless. Called back and the veg and satay was replaced again very quickly. Meat was still a little pink but cooked and veg bit more cooked. The meat was leg meat and not breast meat which I was expecting as other places serve breast goujons or pieces of breast. whole thing just me put me off the meal. the veg curry was only picked at. Ended up tonight getting a jar of Satay and doing up a proper satay with the meat and sauce. The rice I refried in sesame seed oil and adding a dash of soy to it. Will not order or eat anything from them again. Worst...

We like Chinese food a lot, so we had to try this one as it is not far away from where we live.

We did not have had great expectations, as restaurants at supermarket locations are in most cases rather average than gourmet. Plus we read the reviews here, so our thing was “if we don’t leave hungry it’s ok”

My god have we been wrong!

Food wise this place is absolutely a hidden gem! Brilliant.

They have one of the best satay dishes I ever had (satay mixed meat from the early bird menu) and also the sides (egg fried rice, chow mein (extremely yummy)) are delicious. Compared to another place we visited a week earlier this was Chinese food heaven!!!

As it was my wife’s birthday and they overheard a comment they even improvised a cake :)

Which answers if the service is good. They are nice and lovely people. When it’s busy you might need to wave a bit, but then they are always quick.

The restaurant looks lovely, well decorated, it is a real pleasure for the sight. On arrival we were sitted after showing the covid cert and were served prawn crackers. The staff is extremely attentive and reactive and shows an exemplary kindness as well as a delightful sense of humor. The main dishes are relatively big portions so small appetites should avoid starters and big appetites will be full at the end of the meal.
