We took a walk over to the Machane Yehuda market and discovered this gem in the middle of the highly sensory overloaded experience. Over the past few years, the market has been turned into this fantastic night life, we had check out the market where people of every race, colour and creed sit together.
Now letโs discuss Hatch. We walked into this tiny kiosk like space, turned into a hip cafe. They were blasting hits from the 90s. Everything seemed so intentionally designed with the Post-Millennial in mind.
We opted for the the Beer Tasting. We had four incredible beers. The sour ale was by far the best sour beer I had ever tasted. It was not too sour and didnโt leave an after taste that makes everything taste sour for the next 3 days. There was a nice smooth finish that wasnโt bitter like other sours Iโve had. Beer the call the Pizza Beer was fun alternative. The other two beers the Pilsner and lager were creative and open. Loved it.
The beer is all made right there. The beer maker โMendyโ was there while this little joint was hopping with people.
Really liked that were served an reusable and paper. No plastic is used there... an Israeli first for me.
I must mention the kosher certification. Itโs a great certification and they are proud of it. They even had the Mashgiachs number listed one the menu.
Will definitely be back before we...
ย ย ย Read moreEdit: This is no longer what Hatch used to be. I donโt know what happened exactly, but something is majorly off with the management it seems, which affects many aspects of execution. The food is much less delicate, is greasier, and more issues. Really sad to say I would no longer recommend it the way I used to.
Original: I've been there so many times, ordering the same thing nearly every time :) One of the staff used to even remember my order (12 garlic parm wings) before the lockdown kicked in. I used to sit down at the bar and eat all/nearly all of them in one sitting, without a beer (I dont usually drink). People who work there are usually very personable and make you feel like they care about having you as a customer, unlike some other eateries in the hood. Their Buffalo wings, beers, and shredded beef salads are tip-top too. I've tried other items but these were the best ones. Only one time did they make a mistake that caused me to wait, but once they realized, they made up for it very courteously. Must be something done right with the ownership/management. Reposting the rating with a written review cos Hatch is one of my favorites in Israel, only visiting less due to my...
ย ย ย Read moreOK, I'll give it 4 stars for now but it's not final. I haven't tried their food yet, but I heard they make their own sausages, beef jerky and lamb bacon. After I check that out I'll give the final score. But so far it's a small(just like almost all of them there) neat place right in the middle of the city market, surrounded by another three or four of those (hence the constant music cacophony) in a small overcrowded passage. The typical bouquet of odours of the rotting fish guts, fruits, vegetables and human waste is ever present like a trade mark of the area and systematically refreshed and maintained. All in all, it's a place definitely worth...
