A pearl in the heart of Jerusalem.
The menu befits a coffee place in Israel but also includes interesting twists and more sophisticated (alcoholic) drinks.
The crew is colourful, kind and joyful. The immaculate vibe of the place radiates through the waitresses' interactions with each other, their laughs and goofy gestures. While an easygoing atmosphere could sometimes translate into inattentive service, here was quite the opposite: they worked without delay and were very attentive. For example, they put a jar of cold water on each table straight away(!) - incredible how impressive this simple forthcoming gesture is in the wilderness and heat of the Israeli restaurant scene. The service remained excellent throughout our entire meal.
The food was tasty and well made. The food wasn't extraordinary, but the portions were fair, the ingredients were fresh and the breads & pasta were high quality.
We got two discounted mimosas with our pasta which were nice as well.
And of course, the whole place is a bookshop and a gallery. If all other reasons haven't sufficed - you should visit it solely for this one (especially if you read Hebrew!).
P.S. the music was excellent, I wish they'd send me...
Read moreI was looking forward to breakfast here but arriving at 12: 05 I was informed that breakfast is no longer served after 12
Okay after some thought I ordered some stuff that was maybe in the mood for. The pear focaccia was delicious and came somewhat fast
A friend of mine join me and he was not in the mood for anything besides for some of bread.
As we were eating and talking I was somewhat wondering what happened to the vegan shepherds pie that I ordered
My friend ordered a second bread but at that time the shepherd's probably came out which included bread that I didn't want. So I gave it to him and we canceled our order
My main issue Is that from the time that I ordered the shepherd's pie until I got it was over 1 hour and 30 minutes? By the time I got it I was no longer interested in it and I totally forgot about when the second issue was. When I got the bill I mentioned that they charged me for bread wice even though we only got one. They called the manager who apologized, etc etc. But it was never taken off the bill and I was not interested in wasting any more time.
The location is beautiful. The decor is really nice. The food is good but...
Read moreDisclaimer: we came to enjoy some good cheesecake, but sadly that was sold out. However we decided to stay, and we were not dissapointed! Tmol shilshom is a Great place! It doesn't get much more Israeli then this bookshop restaurant. Everything here has been thought about. The menus are little famous Israeli children's books, the placemets have shirt stories written on them, and the food is classical Israeli, with dishes like shakshuka, Israeli breakfast and more. However, their hot drinks are the most tasty looking and creative I have ever encountered. We had a pizza Margaretha and a mozzarella fuccacia, which were very tasty. As a dessert we had the caramel crack pie and the lemon pie, which was the dessert of the day. We didn't enjoy the "special" hot drinks, since we were already super full, but we will definitely come back for them! The waitresses were super friendly, the place has a very chilled atmosphere, nice soft background music. A great place to enjoy good food and a nice conversation. We will for sure come back, and next time there better be...
