Very good food but we left thinking we will never return.
Our waitress was very pushy and rude, and just wouldn't stop forcing us to order things we did not want. She was selling us dishes in a very aggressive way, adding items to our order without waiting for our approval. Later when ordering wine I knew what kind and brand of wine I wanted but did not remember the name of it. When asking for it from the waitress, she ignored everything I described and pushed for a wine that was much more expensive. Moreover, I described it as red wine and she kept pushing for the white wine (!!!). It was ridiculous. I knew what I wanted but clearly it was more important for her to make our dinner as expensive as possible so her tip will be as big. She kept insisting to the point I told her I would think about it and had to ask a different waiter who was passing by, because I felt uncomfortable repeating to her which glass of wine I want.
The dishes started to arrive one by one, and every single one was AMAZING. It was like a show of flavors and textures mixing together in the perfect timing and order. We have never experienced something like this. I felt like Ratatouille in the movie when he tastes cheese and has fireworks all around him 😅. It was something else. The menu is built in such a genius way from lighter dishes to more strong and complex flavors. Yuval Ben Neriah is indeed a culinary genius.
But again through the whole evening, the waitress kept interrupting our conversations, and being rude. One time she brutally interrupted us, but then left forgetting what she wanted to say. There was one dish we didn't like (the Massaman), and kindly asked to return. From that point she got even worse. She started giving us attitude, kept asking what was wrong with the dish although we said we just didn't like it, to the point where we felt ashamed for even mentioning it. At the end of the evening, we tipped her 12 percent because she was really rude and ruined the atmosphere for us, and she just threw the bill back at us as if we offended her.
Even though the food was above and beyond everything we ever experienced, we really left with a bad feeling just because of her. We expected from this restaurant great things because of the waiting list and high prices. If the food wasn't as good as it was, it would have been a...
Read moreMe and my partner were there yesterday, we were really looking forward for this.not so while ago, on Xmas eve, we ate in a different fancy restaurant which was so elegant and tasty and we were eager to have the same experience even though we knew it will cost even more. In terms of atmosphere, as much as I wanted it to feel more romantic and hi class, it felt a little like another Telavivian bar with high volume music, no tables covers and kind of, and may the owners forgive me for saying - Steak house. in terms of service, it felt like they really tried hard to give you a personal service since they presented themselves with their personal name, but the moment you started to order, a crew of random waitresses just dropped shipping food on your table in the most commercial way and not even the slightest class expected for the price. In terms of the food, we were enjoying everything we received, but towards the end, suddenly we got a fish meal which was so basic it has actually reminded me a cheap bar mitzva hall food. so flat, and felt like cheap tomato sauce was the leading taste. eventually, nothing in the deserts menu caught our eye and we asked for the bill. in a courtesy, we received a desert on the house, which was not more than okay. so the bill arrived and we found out the the "basic fish meal" was the priciest, but what can you do. then the moment that really hurt me arrived. I put the money for the payment, there was 150 shekels more in high bills, and apparently they decided on their own that I wanted to put all of the 150 shekels (20 percents) as a tip and just didn't bring any change back. I don't mind put 20 percents tip if I feel like and want it, but the moment they chose it for me was the moment I had enough. we asked for the change, and the waiter had this silly look on his face, we put the regular 10 precent cause we didn't want to punish the other waitresses and left.
In two words - awkward and doesn't...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for the first time on New Year’s Eve, having paid a good amount in advance for what we expected to be a premium dining experience. Unfortunately, the evening turned out to be a disappointment.
Despite arriving on time, there were no available tables, and we had to wait in the lobby for 35 minutes. Some couples were seated only minutes before midnight, which dampened the celebratory atmosphere. The staff appeared overwhelmed, and our waitress, in particular, was inattentive and rushed. When I tried to explain my food allergies, she barely acknowledged me and seemed indifferent.
Once we were finally seated, the issues continued. There was no water service, and we didn’t receive any food until after midnight. To our surprise, all the dishes were shared plates, which was not communicated beforehand. This meant my wife couldn’t eat some dishes because of my allergies, effectively leaving us with portions suitable for one person despite paying for two.
The food itself was mediocre at best. Four plates were brought out simultaneously, with no pacing or care typically expected from a restaurant of this caliber. It felt like everything had been mass-prepared for the New Year’s Eve crowd, sacrificing both quality and presentation. Adding to this, our waitress couldn’t explain what we were eating, leaving me uncertain whether some dishes contained allergens.
Overall, it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. For the price and the restaurant’s supposed reputation, the service, food, and overall attention to detail were far below expectations. Sadly, it felt more like a disorganized banquet than a fine...
