Sail Inn — Restaurant in Alassio

Two of us dined at the Sail Inn on a quiet, rainy Friday night at the beginning of November 2012 with five friends who were known by the owner. We found the dishes we ate tasty and well prepared, the prices of main courses in the 10-20 euro range reasonable given the good quality of the cooking, a varied menu with an interesting selection, the service attentive and efficient (also supervised by the owner), and the main dining areas decorated simply and in good taste. ESPERIENZA ALLUCINANTE Due sabati fa siamo andati a cena in questo “titolatissimo” ristorante. Avevo molte aspettative……deluse in pieno.. Arriviamo al primo turno, alle 19,30, tavolo per 5. Dopo un po’ arriva un cameriere, credo il piu’ anziano, che ci chiede che vino avessimo scelto. Noi eravamo indecisi tra il pigato e il vermentino, quindi abbiamo chiesto quale fosse il piu’ fruttato. Ci risponde sgarbatissimo, in malo modo, che i due vini non sono fruttati; MA CHE MODI SONO??? Scegliamo comunque un pigato che fruttato comunque lo era, infatti ne abbiamo poi bevute due bottiglie. Passa una mezz’ora prima che il vino arrivi e piu’ di un ora prima che arrivino gli antipasti. Infatti dalla cucina arrivavano comunque pochi piatti, anche negli altri tavoli. Poi dopo un altra ora arrivano i primi. Sia i paccheri all’astice che le linguine con il crudo di scampi erano troppo salati, faccio presente che noi normalmente mangiamo saporito. Ecco la ciliegina sulla torta: i camerieri, essendo in ritardo per preparare i tavoli per il secondo turno, iniziano a buttare per il ristorante le sedie in malo modo creando agitazione e trascinando i tavoli rumorosamente dietro di noi quasi sfiorando le nostre sedie, mentre noi stavamo ancora finendo di cenare…..!!!!! Ormai era comunque tardi, ma noi comunque chiediamo che dessert ci fosse. Un cameriere non ci porta neanche il menu’ ma distrattamente ci dice che ci sono solo sorbetti gelati e poco altro. Neanche fossimo in una trattoria da camionisti!!! A quel punto, eravamo solo piu’ pochi tavoli del primo turno. Erano passate 3 ore e mezza per mangiare un antipasto e un primo….ERANO LE 23!!! Alla porta c’era una lunga fila di persone che attendevano di entrare per il secondo turno. Decidiamo di andare a prendere dolcino e caffe’ da un altra parte. Alla cassa nessuno ci ha neanche chiesto come ci fossimo trovati. Noi siamo persone educate e abbiamo pagato quanto dovuto e ce ne siamo andati. QUESTO E’ IL GRANDE E FAMOSO SAIL INN????...

Good food, great service

We (group of 7) went here yesterday (August 2nd, 2013) and had a great evening with good food* and wine. The Antipasti misti di mare were excellent, especially the Asian flavored Fritto Estivo.

*one of the two lobsters wasn't cooked well and even seemed stressed meat, it was too tough. The waiter offered another dish which we kindly waived away. We really just had enough (in a positive sense). To our great surprise the lobsters were on the house as were the digestives (limoncello, grappa and mirto). This is how a restaurant should respond to a situation like this....
