Restaurant Review: A Disappointing Experience

I recently dine at cafe du port hoping for a delightful culinary experience, but unfortunately, it turned out to be rather disappointing. The food was, at best, average. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, but each dish seemed to lack that special something that makes a meal memorable. Everything was just okay—neither bad nor exciting.

However, what truly marred the entire experience was the attitude of the staff. From the moment we walked in, there was an evident lack of hospitality. The staff seemed disinterested and quite rude, treating customers as if we were mere sheep tourists. It felt as though they were doing us a favor by serving us, rather than making us feel welcome.

Basic requests were met with eye rolls or ignored, and it was incredibly difficult to get anyone’s attention for even the simplest questions. The absence of warmth or friendliness was palpable and put a damper on what should have been an enjoyable evening.

In summary, if you’re looking for exceptional food or a welcoming atmosphere, you might want to consider other options. Unfortunately, cafe du port didn’t quite live up to its reputation, mainly due to the discourteous staff. Here’s hoping they can work on customer service and provide a better experience...

We’re here slightly early on in the season, so not much was open yet we were lucky enough to stumble on this gem of a restaurant walking through Porto Cervo! Their current rating does not do it justice as the food was honestly delicious and for the price just wow, we’ve paid triple what we paid in this place in other locations around Sardinia that just didn’t warrant the price. We ordered the octopus (which wasn’t chewy) and lay on this bed of purée potato and chilli which was absolutely delicious! We then had the cous cous pasta with seafood (min order 2 people) as our main which was scrumptious! I’ve never tried this type of pasta but it’s so light in texture and the tomato sauce was perfectly seasoned, you could literally taste the sea! We finished on the mixed seafood grill which was done well and for €38 for that quality and fish you just can’t complain. The whole meal cost us €183 including two glasses of wine and the service was amazing! The staff were really lovely. This restaurant is a joke! Never had such bad service in life so far. And it’s in Porto cervo! If it’s always busy, get more staff. Since the moment we enter, till we leave, no one came to take the order or bring any bread! For 40 mins! We have a baby, I want to make a food for her, politely asking a man there, not even wait till I finished msg sentence, he cut off my words and rudely saying I will back to you later while he was walking already to other table without even look at me!
