The name is appropriate. If you've hardly ever been to a Michelin star restaurant (and you have (200€+/pp) to spend, then YES please go, have a great experience, there are few choices near Porto Cervo...
However, if you have tons of experience in fine dining, I recommend you skip this one...
Honestly I was disappointed. It's not bad of course. I would not even say it it's overpriced. The service was great... but I'm sorry to say I was not at all impressed... with anything. Yes there was all the pompous and beautiful presentation of Michelin star dining, but the actual taste of everything and anything we tried... was meh. Including their own brand of champagne. Everything was fine but not great, interesting but not special, beautifully plated but nothing unique... The atmosphere about the same. Clearly someone worked very hard on the interior design, but that's just it, you feel it, how hard they tried, mixing a ton of different restaurant design trends that just don't really click all together. Personally I'm very allergic to dogs, so upon entering the restaurant and having four or five small dogs running freely to greet me I didn't appreciate. They were kind enough to secure the dogs in another area. Sincerely I would have never chosen the place had I known. The music was eclectic to put it politely, in italian they would refer to the playlist as a meatloaf. They arubtly stop the music to play happy birthday and clap for tables, then abruptly cut off the birthday song to search for a new song. There is no privacy. It's very small place, an open kitchen, and all of the tables in an intimate setting, everyone watching each other and easily able to listen to each others conversations. They seem to have no dress code nor age limits on kids.
Some people probably love all of this, but I found the whole restaurant and experience to be for tourists who can go back home and brag that they dined here to people who wouldn't know better. Just wasn't my cup of tea.
Actually the best and only exciting thing I tried was a greek after dinner liquore... whatever that was I highly...
Read moreWe had an unfortunately experience at this restaurant, one which I have never experienced at any other Michelin starred restaurant, and we have eaten at many. As the female at the table I was given a menu with no prices and when asked if I was given this because I was a woman, the waiter said simply "yes". I told him it was incredibly rude and offensive and I was then told by him twice that it was ok and not offensive. I beg to differ. At no point was the rationale as to why I was given a menu without prices explained, beyond that it was because I was a woman - the response from the restaurant is not factual. I would also add that the Chef was there and witnessed the encounter but didn't deem it necessary to engage with us. He did, however, stand with the two waiters and laugh as we left, after we paid a €110 bill for a bottle of water and two cocktails having decided we didn't want to stay any longer.
Setting aside this outdated strange sexist behaviour, the setting is nice (albeit a little dated and gaudy for my personal tastes and with just a small glimpse of the water), and the Chefs appetisers were presented nicely and clearly prepared with some skill. My cocktail was disappointing and tasted just of mango juice, although my partners cocktail was nice, if unremarkable.
My advise would be to find somewhere else, unless you're into this type of misogyny with your pricey lunch, whilst you sit on AstroTurf for...
Read moreThis restaurant was such a disappointment. First of all, I came in to dine on my own and although multiple tables were open, I was put in a far off corner. When I asked if I could be seated at another table the chef/owner seemed very annoyed and refused. Because I had read some good reviews, I stayed in case the food was worth it and chose the €200 menu. The food was not worth it. The chef sends all sorts of grissini, bread, crackers to try and distract you from the fact that the food is not great. The seafood appetizers given at the start of the meal were decent. The scallop wrapped in a pancake was interesting but nothing to write home about. The pasta I was served was basic with just olive oil on it and spritz of something that I could not taste. The fish was bland. The only nice thing I have to say is that the waitstaff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I truly think the only reason this restaurant is still open is because the hostess and the waiters and waitresses were extremely attentive and polite. Last but not least, the decor was tacky. If you want a meal full of flavor and texture, I would not waste your money here. P.S. They were not reserving the other tables for other diners, I was the last one to arrive for dinner that evening and I arrived around 8:30pm which is a normal time to dine in Sardinia. The chef was such a grouch, so much so that it was like he was a...
