A Culinary Catastrophe: The Overrated Quattro Passi Al Pescatore. Avoid at all cost!!! My wife and I, avid connoisseurs of fine dining and frequent visitors to Michelin-starred establishments, recently had the misfortune of dining at Quattro Passi Al Pescatore in Sardinia, Italy. While our pockets are deep, and our appreciation for luxury and quality is significant, this venture resulted in an agonizingly regretful experience, filled with subpar food, condescending staff, and a staggering bill utterly unjustified by the night's dreadful offerings.
The only redeeming quality of this so-called 'restaurant' was the hostess, who greeted us with warmth and kindness – a stark contrast to the arrogance, rudeness, and pretentiousness that permeated the rest of the establishment.
Quattro Passi Al Pescatore touts itself as a luxurious experience, however, the supposed ‘luxury’ here is merely a façade for an outright rip-off. The atmosphere is lugubrious, filled with people more concerned with their social media presence than experiencing any semblance of culinary delight, all under the dim light of an outdated and slightly grimy interior.
The manager, with his aggressive behaviour and impolite demeanor, embodied the pretentiousness of the place. When we voiced our concerns about the food quality, we were met with nothing but disrespect and arrogance, leaving us feeling insulted and undervalued.
To speak of the food is to recount a culinary tragedy. The fish, seemingly fresh, betrayed its stale taste with every bite. Our pasta, woefully void of botarga or vongole, left us questioning the legitimacy of this establishment's claims to quality and authenticity. Every dish we tried was an uninspired concoction, lacking in flavor, uniqueness, or any semblance of culinary skill.
The sommelier, tragically misinformed, seemed to only be acquainted with the price tags of the wines, demonstrating no depth of knowledge or appreciation for the craft. We were subject to two bottles of mediocre champagne, recommended with the eloquence of someone utterly indifferent to the world of wines.
To further add insult to injury, the restaurant dared to charge an extra 60 euros per coperto, a fee that we considered excessive even as the table was not adorned with fine cloth or any decoration at all and the chairs were instruments of torture. The cutlery and glasses were of the cheapest quality, a detail all too noticeable to those accustomed to finer things.
In conclusion, our experience at Quattro Passi Al Pescatore was a symphony of disappointments and disasters. The galling lack of quality, combined with astronomical prices and a contemptuous staff, left us feeling robbed and insulted. This restaurant is a bleak spot on the culinary map, a place where pretentiousness overshadows palate, and arrogance supersedes service. For those seeking a luxurious, joyful dining experience, look elsewhere, lest you too fall victim to this gastronomical travesty.

Read moreWe were very welcomed to enter this restaurant even without a booking and they seemed fully booked. It was an unplanned visit and so we even felt under-dressed as we were wearing jeans and flip flops! We were surprised but happy that we were welcomed in, but I think I now know why - becasue of the money they get from each and every customer! When we were asked what we wanted to drink, I said a glass of wine. I was then tried to be over-sold a half a bottle instead of a glass as a half a bottle I was told was only 2 glasses. After being asked IF i wanted to see the wine list (rather than just ordering through recommendation of the waiter), I was shown a page with wine options and numbers next to them. To be quite honest I really didn't know what these numbers meant ! Until I subtly asked a couple of questions and found out they were prices! Half a bottle of wine started at 200 euros. I then looked to order just a glass, and they started at 40 euros. I wanted to cry. I felt trapped. My husband told me to just embrace it as we were there now, it was a beautiful place and location, and we couldn't just get out and leave. I had been in Porto Cervo for 10 days aleady and eaten/drunk in some very prestigious places but not paid more than 20 euros for a glass of wine. My husband was going to order a cocktail but changed his mind when he saw the 40 euros prices. Instead he had a beer. Water was 12 euros. An espresso was 6 euros. Cost of food wasn't bad for the type of restaurant, it was drink and extras you get burnt by. Quality of food however was absoluetly not up tp scratch (maybe unless you order lobster etc). I ordered a sea bass fillet and asked if I could swap the mashed potato for a pasta (as I really wanted to eat pasta in italy and hadn't done so enough ). After checking with the chef, I was asked whether a "white pasta" would be ok. I had no idea what a "white pasta" was but seeing as we were in such a prestigious restaurant, I thought it would be absolutely fine! I was wrong. It was a nightmare. I cannot believe the chef served such a dish! He served me the fish with veg. etc. without the mashed potoato, And about 5 minutes later a bowl of the cheapest supermarket spaghetti was brought to me. Dry and nothing on it, sticky and even cold. Wow. Anyway, summary - Great service, Great location, poor quality food, super expensive / way over priced...
Read moreWe were walk in’s which started my wife and my experience at this restaurant off on a good note as they immediately confirmed that they had a table for dinner available. Then the friendly young woman was replaced by a more senior and much more snooty employee who informed us that we had to outlay at least 200 Euro per person if we wanted a water side table. We were not keen on this and turned to go. The snooty one then declared we could be seated but we had to order at least 2 courses. We normally do this anyway so we sat down for dinner. The ambiance inside the rustic decor of the restaurant was destroyed by the disinterested dj playing loud doof doof music all night. We were asked for drinks by one of the drinks waiters. I grabbed a beer and my wife asked for a non alcoholic cocktail. The drinks arrived shortly but the waiter didn’t pour my beer - he just left me to do this. At fine dining restaurants, you normally get your drinks poured for you. My wife’s ’ mock tail ‘ turned out to be nothing more than OJ over some ice - 25 euros - that’s ridiculous. The food was quite good. My grilled sea bass was cooked nicely and was fresh. Unfortunately it wasn’t boned thoroughly so l had to be careful as I ate to extract some pin bones that had been left in the fillet. The food quality aside , the service dropped off quickly and we began to feel uncomfortable and disrespected. Our water glasses were not refilled. When i asked for the wine list the drinks waiter disappeared and didn’t return. I asked the food waiter about ordering a lobster and the waiter said he had to check with the chef for availability He didn’t return with any lobster related news. So we ordered other dishes. During our meal the waiting staff rushed about a lot. There was no chance of having a relaxing meal. After mains we left disappointed and feeling we never should have been there. Overall a really poor experience and unprofessional performance. The food was ok but it couldn’t save the meal. We won’t be recommending...
