Ristorante Anzio da Alceste al Buon Gusto dal 1950 — Restaurant in Anzio

I don't often give 5 stars unless I mean it. My husband and I absolutely loved this place. We went there yesterday 16/6/18. The food was gorgeous both in presentation an flavour. We mistakenly ordered rather a lot of food as we didn't realise how big some of the starters were but what an experience❣️ We took up 3 tables and ate like kings. 😂 We had 3 starters, 2 main courses, wine, dessert and liquers. They also give you free freshly fried lemon zest dough balls which are delicious. They even kindly offered us seconds. 😁 We sat outside on the terrace with the sun and sea breeze streaming in, and great views. The waiters were incredibly well mannered. Do you know how refreshing that is?! Even if they sometimes forgot to bring you something, you easily forgave them because they were so nice. The only peck I have is that the space between tables can sometimes feel quite cramped when you are sitting back to back BUT that will not stop it becoming our regular haunt at the weekends! We had a lunch here today for 4 people. We took 2 starters to share, small bottle of wine and each of us a first of that cost 22 euros. At the end food was eatable but nothing of special or worth the price paid. Risotto- was just boiled rice with few peaces of seafood, gnocchi - better frozen from supermarket, and pasta con vongole- lets say decent but max 5 vongole bits inside. The most surprising part was a check 190 euros! We asked to see an original bill that wasn’t provided and we were rudely told to pay of what we have consumed. Pensavo che questo ristorante fosse all'altezza della sua nomea e dei prezzi, ma forse la gente è abituata a pensare che dove si spende TANTO si mangi bene. Al momento della prenotazione avevo richiesto un tavolo carino visto che festeggiavo il compleanno del mio compagno e ci hanno posizionato al centro della stanza, vicino al tavolo di servizio, così che durante tutta la cena i camerieri passavano sempre dietro me o il mio compagno, grazie mille. Ordiniamo un antipasto misto caldo, modica cifra di 30 euro per vedere arrivare i resti della frittura del pranzo e un gambero fritto scaldato, un Alice fritta, un broccolo fritto?? E 3 gamberi cotti in maniera diversa e un insalatina polpo e patate e un cous cous con tonno e zucchine piccante da morire. Il tutto servito semplicemente buttato su due piatti, che neanche più a cucine da incubo si vede. Gli anni 80 son finiti da un pezzo. I primi abbondanti ma senza infamia e senza lode. Mi chiedo, le persone che scrivono bell' atmosfera, sono abituate a cenare allo stadio? Perché di atmosfera non c'è proprio nulla. Ambiente da trattoria con luci puntate in faccia, il cameriere che mentre gli chiedevo una delucidazione sul piatto si gira e se ne va e non mi fa finire di parlare, tutti che parlano a voce alta, gente seduta in sala che entra in cucina come nulla fosse (sicuramente amici), vicini di tavolo a vedere la partita a volume altissimo. Non è sicuramente quello che mi aspetto da un ristorante che vanta in menù la maggior parte dei piatti a 100euro al kg. Carta dei vini con bottiglie che si trovano OVUNQUE per chi gira ristoranti, ma più cari della media di almeno 7/10 euro. La ristorazione è l'accoglienza di un cliente che paga, non è solo cucinare pesce costoso. Sono stata talmente male e mi giravano talmente tanto, che non ho chiesto neanche il dolce per una candelina. Non tornerò mai più e sicuramente lo sconsiglierò a chiunque. Per finire, al momento del pagamento del conto parlando con il mio compagno, la proprietaria si è intromessa nel discorso, commentando in maniera poco garbata.
