I am sorry this place is not grandma’s Sicilian home cooking i was hoping for and it fell very short of my high expectations from all the positive reviews. I should have smelled a ratto when we arrived and saw the really naff and tacky logo / branding complete with Facebook and Instagram symbols. Nonna Rita is almost definitely not cooking out the back I am afraid and the locals are unlikely to eat here. My wife and I shared shared an antipasti €16 (cheese and meat platter) which was decent (but realistically you can buy this in the supermarket in a packet and transfer to a plate). We then shared a monstreta al ragú €16 (decent pasta - but we are in Italy - and slightly bland sauce) followed by the wild boar stew €18. Not sure if the meat was really wild boar or they chose a poor cut but the meat was really disappointing and very dry and lacking any depth of flavour. We also ordered a side of “caponata” for €10 which would result in mafiosa hits if served up in Sicily 🤣🤯. Tiramisu €6 was very large but one of the worst I have had. Couldn’t taste the coffee and it was made with whipped cream (rather than eggs and mascarpone as it should be). The carafe of house wines were good value at €8. We had a white first (which I would probably avoid) followed by the red which was very decent for the money. With 2 coffees the bill was just shy of €100 which felt a lot considering the super cheap wine and sharing 3 courses and a dessert that were all...

We strolled through the beautiful old town of Bosa with our family on 1.6.2024. When we got hungry, we found the wonderfully located Trattoria Nonna Rita - an excellent experience for us! We were a group of 14 so we asked if there was a place for us spontaneously! The team was super friendly, flexible and changed the tables for us!!! That was great! The food is typical Sardinian and we were immediately looking forward to everything that was to come!!! The ambience and the good mood of the people around us gave us even more of a Mediterranean feeling!!! The food was brought and the plates were filled with delicious fregola, homemade toffia and fresh delicate seafood!!! It was a treat for our senses and we were lucky to have found this spot!!! We would like to thank the team at Trattoria Nonna Rita from the bottom of our hearts and would love to come back any time!!! We wish the team all the...

Stubbles across this place on a short break

If you're looking for a place where the sea truly meets the plate, this is it. Every dish bursts with freshness and heart, especially the seafood. The octopus is tender and perfectly seasoned, the cuttlefish delicate yet rich in flavor, and the crab pasta is a standout—sweet, savory, and unforgettable.

Don't miss the Carlofortina pasta either—a beautiful nod to Sardinian tradition, crafted with real care and soul. You can tell this is more than just a restaurant; it’s a labor of love. The passion behind the food shines through in every bite.

Highly recommended—for the flavors, the atmosphere, and the...

Trattoria Nonna Rita is tucked away on a peaceful side street in Bosa, offering an authentic, home-cooked feel. We stopped by for lunch and ordered two pasta dishes: one with a hearty meat sauce, and the other a simple but flavourful ravioli with tomato. Both tasted fresh and homemade – the kind of meal that feels personal. The space is small and low-key, which adds to the charm. Service was friendly, prices were more than fair, and overall, it delivered exactly what you’d hope for from a local trattoria. Quietly rated: worth stopping for a simple, genuine Sardinian lunch.

We arrived right when Trattoria Nonna Rita opened at 7:00 PM and were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff, some of whom spoke a bit of English, which was helpful. The restaurant is tucked away and not immediately visible, but we’re so glad we found it. We had fish and ravioli with a delicious tomato sauce. It was so good we ended up cleaning our plates with the fresh bread. The tiramisu was also great! All in all, a great find: authentic, tasty food and lovely service. Highly recommended!
