Casa D - Cantina e Cucina — Restaurant in Bracciano

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, which is surprising especially given the five-star reviews and beautiful photos online. We visited with our kids, expecting a quality meal, but unfortunately it was far from that.

We ordered risotto, which came out completely cold—something we never expected, especially in Italy, where even the most modest places usually serve hot, fresh dishes. We also ordered pork for our son, but the waiter (who we later realized is the current owner’s son) completely forgot the order. When we asked about it, the dish was brought out just five minutes later, also cold, and with a strange smell that made us wonder if the meat was even fresh.

My husband’s order never arrived at all. After seeing the quality of what we were served, we decided not to wait any longer. We paid and left without eating a proper meal.

It really felt like there was no one properly managing the kitchen—no chef, no attention to basic quality. Based on other reviews, we suspect the restaurant used to be run by the father, and maybe that’s when those great experiences happened. But now, sadly, things have clearly changed, and not for the better.

Amazing!

We went here twice within a week, the first time we found it via tripadvisor just because it looked nice, but when we got there it looks really cozy, the wine cave looks fantastic, the staff (one big family) was very friendly (and speaks english, great plus!) and the food was great.

You could even order some custom variations of meals, which is great if you like a type of pasta but want to order fish or meat with it.

The second time i was there I ordered the Veal Meatballs. I mean, i don't want to overdo my review or make it sound fake but those meatballs were the most tasty, soft meatballs I ever had, probably the best veal I ever had. (they were more like tiny burgers in stead of round meatballs)

On top of it all they have some delicious rum and nice custom desserts. All in All, an absolute 5/5!

For the cost: I think it's great value. I would say the average is around 35 - 50 euro per person depending on how many courses + drinks.

Any negatives? Not that I can think of actually. The only one maybe being that the entrance is a bit harder to spot because of the...

Un'esperienza enogastronomia semplicemente straordinaria!

In un locale dal gusto raffinato, che declina in chiave moderna gli stilemi delle antiche osterie, senza tuttavia snaturarne l'anima e l'essenza, è possibile ammirare in tutto il suo splendore una magnifica cantina cinquecentesca, in cui i vini sono sapientemente custoditi in ambiente igroscopicamente e termicamente controllato.

All'ingresso si viene accolti con un fritto di verdure asciutto e dal sapore delicato, accompagnato da un calice di bollicine che ne esalta i sapori.

Il mitico Danilo, simpaticissimo proprietario ed egregio Chef, personaggio d'altri tempi e vero cultore della gastronomia di terra e di mare, nonché esperto sommelier, saprà indicare senza indugio il giusto abbinamento tra piatti e vini, contribuendo in modo importante a quella che risulterà essere una magnifica serata.

Il menù è elaborato, innovativo e a tratti audace, tuttavia tutti i piatti assaporati sono risultati riuscitissimi, con particolare riferimento alle fettuccine verdi (rigorosamente fatte a mano) con cacio, pepe, menta, gamberi e limone, un mix bilanciato di sapori unico e dalla consistenza eccezionale!

Il pane viene fatto tutti i giorni dalle sapienti mani della Chef Cinzia, sia con che senza olive, e risulta morbidissimo e profumato, invitando a mangiarne sempre di più.

Per non parlare poi del brasato (dalla qualità indescrivibile) e delle polpette di vitello al tartufo (un'esplosione di gusto), o del croccantino al rum servito con rum caramellato...

...oppure della magia data dalla pasta mille foglie con zabaione e fragole, dolce talmente ben riuscito e leggero da sciogliersi istantaneamente in bocca!

Che dire, la qualità è eccelsa ed il rapporto con il prezzo è assolutamente giusto e addirittura conveniente e la musica che anima il tutto è veramente di buon gusto.

In sintesi, si tratta di un locale consigliatissimo tanto alle coppie, che alle famiglie, pur risultando un'ottima soluzione anche per una serata tra amici all'insegna dei veri sapori dell'alta gastronomia italiana!
