Antico Caffè — Restaurant in Cagliari

We were a bit uncertain about this restaurant because of the reviews here on google. Our Airbnb host recommended it to us and so we thought we want to go here.

First of all, I have no idea what these bad reviews here should point out. They are quite the opposit of what we have experienced!

We were here for dinner and yes, we had a reservation. Please dont post bad reviews if they can't get you a place on the evening when you just stumble in. It is a frequently visited restaurant around here. It's like if you go for dinner in your favorite restaurant in your hometown you will mostly reserve a table.

Food: The food was really, really good. As antipasti we had prosciutto with melon. As primi we had lasagne à bolognese and canelloni with ricotta and spinach. As dessert we had a tiramisu which was the topping of a really great dinner!

Service: I don't know why so many people on here criticize the service. We were served by a really friendly man and also a really friendly woman. They saw what was missing, we never had to state that something would be missing. What you have to consider - after our two week trip here in sardignia the clocks just dont tick like at home. Somethings here just need a bit more patience.

Also they were all speaking english. We have tried to use our best italian, but mostly they recognized that we're struggling and helped us in fluent english.

Title: A Mixed Bag at Antico Cafe

I recently visited Antico Cafe in Cagliari, hoping for a delightful dining experience. While the food and drinks were impressive, the service left much to be desired.

I started with the club sandwich with salmon, which was absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors and textures was spot on, and the presentation was appealing. The coffee was also excellent, strong and rich just the way I like it. The cocktails were creative and tasty, with a good selection to choose from.

However, the service was a different story altogether. Our server seemed overwhelmed and disinterested, taking ages to take our orders and neglecting to check in on us throughout the meal. When I asked for a refill on my drink, I was met with a curt response and a long wait. The staff seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than attending to customers.

Despite the poor service, I would still recommend Antico Cafe for the quality of their food and drinks. However, I hope they will work on improving their customer service to match the high standards of their cuisine.

Food was decent as with many other restaurants in the area. Extended choice of cocktails and drinks are to appreciate, but service was awful. There was an error and two of our main dishes went to another table (next to ours, obviously). So, when we are asked if we were missing something, we replied « yes mains for half of us » and… no apologies but we were told we’d have to wait (really?). And indeed we waited a good 30min more, meaning we did not eat all together. We saw the same issue with our table’s neighbors. When gently complaining about the wait, we were told by the waiter, in a rude manner, « we told you that you’d wait ». No nice words, no apology for the waiting, no compensation whatsoever, so we decided to leave the restaurant all together.
