Hèctor Sicilian Food Concept — Restaurant in Castellammare del Golfo

I don’t usually write reviews of restaurants where I haven’t had the chance to taste the food, but I am very disappointed with my experience dealing with this place.

First, we tried — unsuccessfully — to make a reservation for a table of 10. We eventually offered complete flexibility with the time, five days in advance, but ended up with nothing more than polite goodbyes from the staff and a suggestion to “maybe another time.”

Still curious about their dishes, we decided to stop by with three people right at opening time, 5:00 PM. We were greeted by a man with a sour face who clearly had no interest in interrupting his chair-arranging, and who informed us they would “maybe” open in about 40 minutes.

Unfortunately, my review reflects only the service and attitude, not the food — which we didn’t get to try, and likely never will. Unlike most places in Sicily, where planning a dinner is easy and met with warmth and helpfulness, here the staff seemed to look for problems instead...

This place is lacking basic hospitality and customer service skills. While ordering I first ordered 2nd plate (main dish) and at the end wanted to add apertiser which was obviously hard because I got comment that now they need to go to kitchen to tell them to wait with main plate. While deciding about apertiser, I asked what is difference between two types of bruschettas that they have in offer and answear was: "it is written in menu down in English". Waited for main dish more than usual in other restaurants with similair occupancy. Communication with waiters was poor. Food was generally good, but dont recommend this place because of poor customer service. Guest is here not on the 1st place. Just check owner's answers to reviews with 1 star and you will understand yourself should you sit here for...

Dispiace enormemente dare valutazioni del genere ma ci hanno rovinato la cena del 14 sera. Prenotato il tavolo con larghissimo anticipo ci fanno accomodare ma dopo 3 minuti ci fanno spostare perché a quanto pare il tavolo era impegnato da clienti ancor più "speciali", accettiamo sorridenti, portato il menù ed un po di pane del giorno prima, chiediamo, visto che nulla è specificato, degli antipasti e ci viene detto dalla ragazza che serviva il tavolo che trovavamo anche del pesce crudo, detto ciò facciamo l'ordine, passa poco tempo e ci arrivano 4 ciotoline 1) con caponata ( il mare chissà dov'è) 2) 4 gamberetti con pepe, 3) cous cous ( anche buono ma lo avevamo già ordinato come primo 4) alici con pepe rosa. Un pochino infastiditi ci accingiamo a cenare se non che al tavolo a fianco (praticamente attaccato) la titolare prende un ordine e dice delle cose totalmente diverse dalla sua collega dal discorso antipasti ai primi fuori menù, molto delicatamente chiediamo spiegazioni e la titolare ci dice che non erano previsti crudi in ciò che avevamo ordinato, che ci portava un po di sashimi in una ciotola e che ci sostituiva il cous cous con un fuori menù visto il disguido, però, parole testuali "amen"... diciamo ok nessun problema. Con tempi celeri vengono portati i primi, i crudi chissà che fine abbiano fatto ma cosa totalmente inaspettata la ragazza che aveva preso l'ordine arria al tavolo cominciando ad insultarci, non mi era mai successo nulla di simile, al terzo voi non capite perdo la pazienza, si avvicina la titolare senza mai scusarsi e piuttosto che dire umilmente e semplicemente abbiamo sbagliato ci dice potete alzarvi ed andare via, cosa che abbiamo puntualmente fatto dato l'atteggiamento completamente ineducato di entrambe, ora l'errore può capitare soprattutto in una sera di festa ma la totale mancanza di educazione e rispetto dei clienti no, spero abbiano modo di valutare l'accaduto e cercare di migliorare perché lo avevamo scelto felici di provare un posto nuovo, gestito da ragazzi e spiace moltissimo fare...
