I had already been to this restaurant once before and I was really amazed and loved the freshness and originality of the food. The staff are polite and interact well with clients, making sure to satisfy their every need. The owner, il signor Filippo goes the extra mile to make you relax and guides you well around the food on offer. I actually visited this restaurant twice during my short stay in Catania. First time round, I had the pumpkin risotto and Catanese seabass washed down by an excellent Negroni and slightly effervescent Ferrarelle water. All delicious and well presented. My travel companion opted for guanciale bruscetta and an awesome rich fish soup. The second time, following Filippo's advice, I went for the busiate with artichoke and bacon and was chuffed. My main course was a squid gratine, also excellent. My friend had a fantastic home made caponata and a generous mixed grill of fish. I should be returning to Catania in October. I find this city underrated and unloved by who should love it most. However Filippo and his team take pride in what they do. Everything is cooked with love and spoken about with passion. These are the things I look for in a restaurant. Well Done Signor Filippo, Domenico and the rest of the staff at BE QUIET !

Well just wonder up a small lane way (or read google reviews as I did haha) and you will find this little restaurant with amazing food Now I am an Australian Italian so extra fuzzy - my Papa told me never go South of Rome but clearly I just have - this restaurant makes the trip worthwhile A Messina beer - fabulous 3 Euros (seriously could settle in for the night !) I had tomato bruschetta - really good Then a really good Rose wine ….very good dry and lovely - opened a new bottle poured in front of me And then I had the penne trapanese - almond Pesto with tomatoes ….very very good Pasta cooked perfectly Now German women next to me had NORMA she told me “perfecto” and French couple now she had Lasagne (seriously who orders that over 12 years old) and he had what I had ! Haha having flash backs of “when harry met Sally “ The funniest bit - she just swapped with him haha Both looked good but lasagna is not what u order when u come to Italy Anyway next time your in Catania and you want a meal - this is the place to come Yum !

Central location was a giveaway that this was a tourist trap. And it was. Located in a charming alley off of Via Etnea, the restaurant offers a selection similar to other trattorias: simple food consisting of pasta, fish and some meat. The wine selection is extensive. In reality the service was impatient, the pasta was so undercooked that it made a crunch and the flavors were forgettable. The prices were high. Catania has other restaurants. This one is not the one the spend a precious night in. To demonstrate the experience, I invite you to read the translation of how the restaurant maturely responded to my review in English: “It's safer instead that the trap is in your head, and we're sure you're not up to knowing how to distinguish a restaurant from any other place. Catania really has a lot of other realities to go to fill your stomach at popular prices. We are comforted by the fact that thousands think the exact opposite.”

Visited Be Quiet for dinner because of its location, reviews, and gluten free selections. We did not have reservations (on a Saturday night!), but the owner politely seated us in what looked like the last table he had inside! (If going after 7:30PM on a weekend-- make a reservation). The restaurant has outside and inside seating -- but in December the weather is a bit too chilly for us to eat outside.

The waiter, Daniel, was fabulous. On our first night, we wanted some guidance-- wine, food. He gave us a fabulous Nero D'Avola and guided our meal. We ordered a salad and the famous Pasta Norma! Delicious.

Because of the great experience, we visited again during our stay in Catania. The second time was even better! We had gluten free fried calamari and a very tasty meat dish. We recommended Be Quiet to our other friends who were extending their time in Catania. If we ever visit Catania, we will definitely return again. Thank you for the...
