We had an amazing time at Enoteca La Cave! We wanted to try some Sicilian wines and we came to the perfect place. The owner Mario was extremely nice and we asked him if he could pick/recommend the wines. He asked us a few questions about our preferences before he made the choices, which showed his passion and knowlege for wines. Before pouring the glasses he also described the wines in detail. In total, we tried 6 wines (3 red, 3 white) and all were fantastic. If i really had to choose one, it would be the Etna bianco (and i personally prefer red wines!), but i would suggest everyone to find their favourite on their own.
Of the food we first tried the cured meats and cheese plate, of which all are sourced super locally and are bio (and delicious!). Later we decided to try the red shrimp tartare and boy was that a good decision. It was one of the most delicious tartares i have had i my life (not exaggerating), and it is a definite must if you come to this place!!
Lastly, i would like to add two more things. All of the wines were biodinamic and biological, which you can appreciate if you know the work that goes into making them. Also, the prices of the wines were normal or even cheaper compared to other touristy places in Sicily, but of higher quality as i described above. Mario also could have brought us the most expensive wines since we asked him to choose (and didn’t ask for the price), but instead he brougt what he thought we would like based on our preferences. And he...
Read moreI visited Enoteca La Cave based on positive reviews on Google. Upon arrival, I noticed only one other diner and the owner, who was also the worker. I requested a table for one, and he pointed me to a spot from afar.
I had a bottle of water with me and asked the worker for a glass to pour it. He initially refused, but later brought me the glass. Our interactions afterward were awkward.
I asked for his recommendations for appetizers and main courses twice, and he consistently said everything was good. He didn’t suggest anything specific but kept emphasizing the high quality of the food. He did explain how the octopus was prepared and suggested a white wine pairing.
The food was decent. I ordered the tuna tartare and the octopus, which was small and expensive.
Overall, it was an average experience. I wish the worker had been more friendly, and the food was more reasonably priced for the high cost. You could find similar dishes at a cheaper...
Read moreWe booked a table outside through the online platform (our reservation was confirmed). Upon arriving exactly at 7:30 pm, all outdoor tables were already taken. When we asked, we were told that “they didn’t know anything, no outdoor table was available, and if we wanted, we could sit inside or wait at least 30–40 minutes for a table outside.” The indoor area was poorly ventilated and uncomfortably hot, so we chose to leave. It is disappointing that the system allows outdoor reservations if such seating cannot actually be guaranteed. This has never happened to us anywhere before, and it is especially surprising in a restaurant with such...
