We sent back the dishes and only paid for the drinks and appetizer. Three persons out of four of us ordered risotto and spagetti with seafood, but only had very (!!) few pieces of shrimps and sword fish in them. It was NOT that the pieces were too small - the dishes didn't have any particular taste or color other than tomato sauce and orange juice. Then we found a little piece of ceramics in one of the dishes and that was all: we decided to send back those three plates. Their English was very poor, but from what we understood, they would have been ready to add extra ingredients - but we didn't accept such offer. We told them that we wouldn't pay for the dishes that were sent back and we left with no arguments. The appetizer we ate was super-oily and had no taste (fried croquette, arancino, panelle). For some strange reason the lasagna had minced meet on the top of it (the last layer) and again, no particular spices. The chairs on the terrace didn't have blankets or pillows, so shortly after our arrival to the restaurant we entered the main room. The toilet was clear and they offered a very tasty beer. Part of us left with empty stomachs, but we were happy that we didn't let them fool us with...
Read moreOur party of 4 came here for lunch on a Tuesday just before 2 PM. We were seated promptly in the garden area and put in our drink and food orders with the very pleasant staff. Everything started coming out shortly thereafter. We started with the meatballs, Sicilian eggplant (melanzane alla siciliana), and bruschetta siciliana. The meatballs were a little tougher than expected and the bruschetta didn’t have as much garlic and spiciness that I was hoping for. The eggplant, however, had good flavor to it. For entrees, we ordered the quattro formaggio pizza, the carbonara, the risotto, and the zuppa di verdure e legume. Everyone in the party enjoyed their respective dishes and I can say personally that the pizza (my choice), carbonara, and risotto were all excellent. It was a little cool outside since the sun wasn’t shining in the garden yet so you may want to wait until the sun is overhead if it’s not warm enough for you in the shade. Overall good experience though and recommend the dishes...
Read moreLa Sisilia in Cefalù offers decent food, but unfortunately, the overall dining experience fell flat for us.
We ordered the salmon pasta and the La Sisilia pizza. While both dishes were satisfactory, they didn’t exactly blow us away. The pasta was flavorful enough, but not particularly memorable, and the pizza, while fresh, was just average. It’s certainly decent for a meal, but not something that would make you rush back for more.
The bigger issue was the service. The restaurant was very busy, and with only 2-3 waiters managing the entire place, it was clear they were struggling to keep up. It took over 20 minutes just to get a bucket of ice, by which time my Sprite had gone warm and my meal was already finished. The staff was polite, but overwhelmed, and the delays were frustrating.
If you’re in Cefalù and craving something familiar, La Sisilia will suffice, but don’t expect anything extraordinary. The food is decent, but the service issues make the overall experience...
