The Messina 'Potrait of an unknown man' is the exception to this, there is a number of pieces of text related to that piece. A lot of dark Byzantine paintings & archeological finds (esp ceramics). Interesting exhibit of stuffed animals & birds. Also coins from archaeological digs around Sicily. To be honest I was a bit underwhelmed with the shell exhibit... Perhaps if they offered a pamphlet with some info on the exhibits (in a variety of languages), People might get more from the museum.
