We have been in Cisternino for 18 nights and this is our favourite restaurant. We have been twice with our choice for our last night here and it did not disappoint. It is casual and laybacked. Not too expensive and a great atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Il luogo è incantevole, non si discute, e l'ambiente interno rispecchia le caratteristiche delle case del borgo antico di Cisternino. Benché i prodotti siano di ottima qualità, non posso dire altrettanto della loro preparazione e della cottura (un giudizio poco più che sufficiente). Invito il cuoco e il responsabile di sala a controllare meglio la presentazione delle portate e l'eventuale richiesta di cottura desiderata dal cliente di turno (non solo il palato, ma anche l'occhio vuole la sua parte). Il personale in sala è cortese, gentile e solerte. La cantina è dotata di buoni vini, un po' caro il costo di quello "della casa". Tornerò in primavera per gustare nuovamente le pietanze e per notare se i suggerimenti saranno presi in considerazione.

Ein sehr schönes uriges Lokal, wir wurden auch freundlich empfangen. Die Speisen haben uns nicht so ganz überzeugt, als Antipasto hatten wir eine Käse- und Salamiplatte gewählt, es kam aber nur Käse. Leider ohne, dass ein Grund dafür genannt wurde (leider ist mein Italienisch nicht so perfekt, dass ich hätte nachfragen können). Vier verschiedene Käse, zwei davon gut, besonders der Ziegenkäse, die beiden anderen eher fade im Geschmack. Die mit Auberginenmus gefüllten Ravioli waren gut, hätten aber noch ein wenig mehr gewürzt sein können. Das Risotto war speziell, hier kam offensichtlich die Bauernküche zum Tragen. Ist halt Geschmackssache. Der Vino rosso della casa hat uns geschmeckt. Ein insgesamt empfehlenswertes Restaurant.

This was recommended by a Slow Food guide, and I was thrilled that it was open in January when so many other places were closed. The meal felt special. First, the bread was good, not just obligatory filler. We ordered the house antipasti to share between the two of us and were astonished at how much food kept coming. I was especially fond of a crispy stacked zucchini assembly that I don’t know the name of and also the marinated aubergine slices. Our main courses were also delicious. Extremely friendly and helpful staff who seated us incredibly quickly when we arrived on a Sunday lunch without a booking.
