We asked for two small (piccola) draft beers (alla spina). When offered choices, since I am not familiar with brands I said whatever is the most local. When I asked for the check the just told me how much to pay (no bill) and it came back as 250% the price in the menu. They argued it was non comercial beer. I said this was not correct. There was no place in the menu (very detailed and many pages long) with that kind of price for a beer. I end up paying 2x the price of what I asked for but it is not just about the money it was the intention to deceive. If you sell it it should be in the menu like the rest of the items (particularly if the price is 2.5 times of the alternative choices you are offering). Maybe 40 years ago this kind if attitude of trying to deceive/scam tourists was a way of living but this days it is ridiculous treating people like stupids and it is a sure bet to kill your business and business in the area. My learning after a few hours in Civitavecchia…if you are in a cruise don’t waste your time in Civitavecchia either go to Rome or stay at the ship and enjoy the weather. This could be unfair with other businesses but this is how these little bad details condition a visitor. Very surprising people with a business do not understand this basic reaction.
Trying to give explanations to the above would be continuing to treat people like...
Read moreI recently dined at Cruise Cafe and was thoroughly disappointed. As a tourist, I expected a warm and welcoming experience, but what I received was far from it. The staff seemed disinterested and borderline rude, making it clear that they had little patience for visitors. Service was painfully slow, and when the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and bland. It felt as though they were serving tourists subpar dishes intentionally. To make matters worse, the prices were exorbitant for the quality provided. I would not recommend this place, especially for tourists looking for a pleasant dining experience. Save your money and your time – there are plenty of places that actually appreciate...
Read moreAs an American, going to an American restaurant abroad doesn't usually seem appealing. But after long days of traveling and exploring Rome, we just wanted a BURGER. We spent the entire meal talking about how good it was! The burgers were really American sized portions and the fries were like McDonalds but a less greasy texture. The bread was clearly homemade and a great proportion to the burger. My husband and I had a burger each and shared an order of fries, and that was the perfect amount for us. I highly recommend this place if you want American burgers, but better! (Also it's nice that the staff member who helped us not only spoke English, but seemed to be...
