We ate there last night and I cannot recommend this place adjacent the church at all... the grand fritto da oscar looked like all the tiny fish and prawns that we saw at the market the day before and the fishmongers were struggling to sell. They were deep fried in a light batter still with their heads scales shells and bones intact. The tartare/mayo was ok. Not a pleasant experience, but we were quite hungry and nearly all the other restaurants in the area were were full ant it was about 8pm. I can reccommend the fried potatoes (chips), which were fresh and could have used some tomato sauce, which strangely arrived as we were nearly done. The third dish we shared was spaghetti carbonara which was about 5mm thick and had the texture of boot laces.. al dente to a new level. The bacon was rubbery and inedible. We left most of this behind. There was complimentary bread which we declined. Wine was excessively expensive so we settled on the sparling water which was fine. The service charge was 6E total bill 53E. We had eaten at cosamimangiooggi next door a couple of days before and it was really good, and already full, not having many tables. Recommend booking during the day if you see a...
Read moreIt’s not that hard to find good restaurants in Civitavecchia. I recommend that you avoid the beach front ones. I posted a review on one already that I don’t recommend.
This one is very spacious but what it has in beauty it lacks in service. I don’t know if the woman who got our order was the manager but she totally ignored us. We had to ask several times and the food took a disrespectful amount of time to come. The waitresses were nice though.
A group of 15 with large orders in a very expensive restaurant should be treated better.
I like to think that the person was having a bad day. I try to empathize but she made it hard for me to understand her. Maybe they don’t like large groups but why did they accept our reservation?
They have 2 small restrooms and outdoor seating. Food portions were good for sharing (which we only discovered after they arrived 😅) and the taste was...
Read moreWent alone to get some dinner as I was spending one night in Civitavecchia, arrived to the restaurant around 2015hrs and got sat at a corner table.
Once sat down I didn’t get offered a drink for around 15 minutes and when someone did finally come and ask me they got my order wrong. Then they took my food order.
Other tables were coming in and drinks served and starters at the table in quick fashion while I was sat waiting 45 minutes for my first course to come out. Once served I wasn’t given olive oil or balsamic vinegar like the rest of the tables.
Main course came next around 1.5 hours after I first sat down and basically slapped down in front of me without a word.
Food was good, but the service was awful and made me feel unwelcome from start finish.
A very...
