GOOD POINTS: The staff and hotel management were very cordial and bent over backwards to accommodate in every way possible. The Hotel Bellevue breakfast was okay (not excellent and not that much variety) The restaurants were okay, typical food, but definitely not extraordinary. The spa services we got were satisfactory but not superior or better than average in any way, probably lower than average actually.
WEAK POINTS: Aesthetically, they really need some revamping of the decor and furnishings. Very dingy, poor lighting in underground hallways, I can’t believe they are in the category of a luxury hotel with this. Grungy, cheap, moldy decor with paintings of unnotable individuals all over the hotel... why? They really need to renovate, badly! It isn’t rustic, it’s gross. Why did I pay 400 Euros a night for a suite with 2 single beds patched together... was that I could fall in the middle and get stuck in the crack? Seriously. Really uncomfortable and not to up to standard. There was a sauna in our suite... not that keen on saunas but I consider this more of a fire hazard and don’t honestly see the point. Why didn’t they spend that money on better lighting in the hallways. The spa was okay but definitely not 5 star, really not that great. The photos of the flowing waterfalls make it look a lot nicer than it actually was. The pool was slightly chilly, meanwhile the hot tubs were less than lukewarm, only a little less cold than the pool. Ridiculous. Are these calculated decisions to save operating expenses? I’ve never run into this in any five star hotel.
I can’t believe they managed to be a Relais Chateaux property. I would never have spent 400 Euros per night for this place had I known what it was...
Read moreWe spent over 300,000 birr for graduation cermoney last week but the service we received from the so called Manager was very disappointing and unprofestional . Him and his assistance doesn't communicate at all. Very unorganized . We were promissed the top floor which was 9th (that is the best room they have) but the manager and his assistance made last minute changes and put us on the 7th floor. They didn't keep their promise . They don't even know how many people 9th floor can fit. As a manager, this is a part of the job . We asked to talk to the owner but he refused to give us the owners contact . They gave us only 2 waitress for 72 people. The beer was warm and dusty. The DJ was actually NOT a DJ. He was an electrician acting as a DJ. What kind of hotel does this???? Guess what? On the actual day, the manager turned his phone off and disappeared . What a manager!!! Spend your money some where else where managers actually keep their promisses and treat you with respect . We will NEVER ever go back to this hotel . The beer and other drinks price is changing every day Which was really weird . The price they charge per plate is almost double compare to other hotels. Don't pick this hotel for any occations . Note: The owner said this review is not for them. WOW. Just WOW. We paid 150,000 birr as a down payment and then 130,000 (this is just for buffet) and then we paid 43,309.72 birr final bill. We have the recepit. Just ask your manager or we can come to you with...
Read moreWhere to start? Probably the best hotel experience we have ever had in our lives. Laura is the owner and manager and she explained the history and heritage of the hotel and of Cogne. When someone as passionate and intelligent is the manager you begin to understand how so many members of staff go out of their way to make you feel like family and not just a hotel guest. The attention to detail in the design and the service and especially the spa is quite remarkable and unique. We had special dietary needs and the staff could not have done more to accommodate our every small desire. The spa is one of a kind designed by Laura's father and is worth a visit all by itself. I especially want to thank the members of staff below, all of who went beyond the normal course of duty, and helped our stay to become so memorable. So, Naomi at the reception ,Nicolo de chef ,Luca the maitre de, Reno the sommalier ,Simone the waiter, Simona the spa manager, Irina who gave us the most exceptional massage and finally Paola who is the mother of Laura and who has created a small museum which is in itself wonderful and typifies the attention to detail and heritage of this remarkable hotel. Please...
