A mixed experience… The oysters were nice and fresh. The Garda Lake appetizer wasn’t what I expected. Instead of a mix of fish in sauce they offered a few varieties of local minced fish (like a fish salad basically) on top of polenta, plus smoked trout which was the best part. Then we had the black risotto with burrata and shrimp, even some gold flakes to top it off. The presentation was beautiful but, aside from having very little shrimp or burrata, the rice was salty to the point of being literally inedible. Read moreFor lunch I got tuna salad that was made with peas, corn, olives and beans and very little tuna ALL FROM A CAN. NOTHING FRESH OR COOKED. As I refused to eat food from a can they offered another dish, meatballs with potatoes. The potatoes were edible but the meatballs were charged on the outside and raw inside. There was a middle aged woman who served me and was very angry with me that I didn't like the food. It was very hot out so I ordered a bottle of cold sparkling water and she brought me a bottle of warm plain water. Then a gentleman came to try to fix my complaints and he was nicer. After arriving via taxi, we had a dinner of an assortment of seafood, seafood pasta, seabass, fried prawns, wine, and a slice of chocolate pie. Following dinner we attempted to hail a cab through multiple apps to no avail and returned to the restaurant, where they kindly offered to call a taxi themselves. Unfortunately, Desenzano has a distinct lack of available taxis to which the proprietor and chef Marco offered us his time to drive us to our lodgings.
