We stumbled across this place by accident the last time we flew out of Rome and it was SO spectacular that we now schedule our departures so we can eat here before leaving our beloved Italy. This is a family run restaurant and they treat & welcome you like family from the moment you arrive. The food, at every turn and for everything we’ve eaten, is spectacular. I don’t know how they do it, but they make the moistest, tastiest most delicious chicken breast I’ve ever come across. I don’t really even like chicken breast, but we will always get it when we eat there. My wife gets that and I get a lamb dish, and we share. If you like lamb – whoa can they cook it perfectly. The portions, are also very generous, so don’t snack before you go. We enjoyed both the house white and red wines and loved them both. They are smooth, crisp, tasty and dry. While they have a very nice wine selection, trusting their house selections will always be our choice.
Now here’s the clincher: After the meal, we ordered some limoncello to properly celebrate its wonderfulness. . A few moments later, we saw the owner zip out the front door, hop in his van and take off. In a matter of minutes, he was back with a few bottles of limoncello in hand! He didn’t have it in stock! But instead of saying, “no,” he went out and bought it for us! Never in my life have I seen that kind of devotion and service. It’s not hard to see why they have earned our undying patronage. Leaving Italy and ending vacations has always been a bummer. However, now that we found this wonderful restaurant, we look forward to our trip home, because we know we’ll get to enjoy this superb restaurant. I can’t recommend it enough and can’t...
Read moreFound this little place for dinner after reading reviews for Restaurants close to our hotel and this was going to be our last dinner out before our flight in the morning, After spending a whole Month in Rome with my Mother and eating at some of the pretty good places, We both agreed this was ABSOLUTELY the best place we had really Great Food from. . Very farm to table cooking and Extremely Fresh made by a sweet Italian mother and son who runs the front of the house. After we sat down he read us the specials and pointed out a few things on the menu for suggestions, the appetizer for two that he offered was fantastic, but to begin with after we ordered he brought out these absolutely delicious pillows of dough with a little sauce and cheese on top very Light,A gift for you he said from my mother, my mom had the gnocchi in tomato sauce and I had ordered the steak dish which was lightly seared with olive oil and rosemary and finished with sea salt, it was so tender it melted in your mouth, as we were both so full after our meals because the portions are great we were asking for the check and he brought over more little pillows only in donut form, I have never had such a light sugary donut ever. So as you can read by this post ,This little restaurant that looks like a hole in the wall is well...
Read moreLa Pecora Nera is a small, family-run restaurant in Fiumicino, where the son handles the front of house solo and the mother runs the kitchen. The atmosphere is friendly but can feel a bit chaotic, likely due to the limited staff — with just one person managing all service.
We tried the Americana, carbonara, spinach gnocchi, and lamb scottadito. The lamb had good flavor but was a bit tough. The Americana and gnocchi were okay — decent but nothing standout. The carbonara was disappointing; it seemed the egg was added at the wrong temperature, causing it to scramble slightly instead of blending smoothly into the sauce.
Despite some inconsistencies in the food and service pace, the meal started and ended on a high note with a complimentary pizza appetizer and a freshly fried donut for dessert — both delicious and clearly...
