After an endless string of huge disappointments all over Florence, we have managed to find this literal hidden gem.

It was a bit weird that we were the only patrons on a Saturday, but that was most likely because of the location and the fact that it was too hot to be indoors. The reality is that this place should be full every single day.

The chef treated us like royalty and really brought us on a wonderful journey, trying things that we have never thought we would try, and enjoying every single bit of it.

Chef Chilleri turned out to be not only a lovely and gentle person, but also an amazing and talented chef. We are happy to have ended our trip on such a high note.

I'm really very sorry to write this review but our visit was not a good one at all. The owner is lovely and his warmth was evident, a lovely man. However there is no hiding the fact that the food was very poor indeed. The kitchen is visible from the dining area which meant we were well informed of the fact that food was microwaved, reheated and gnocchi was out of a packet; not what we expected in a restaurant. The wine was good and the owner served us well when we said that we did not like the food. The bill was amended to reflect this which was fair and appreciated. We had a great dinner here! My son ordered fried calamari and shrimp and I had the linguine with the meatballs, both were great. However, my wife’s meal, the Ribolitta Al poppa pomodoro, stole the show. The combination of white beans, carrots, and greens (they tasted similar to collards without the bitterness) was excellent. We also had a couple of sides of spinach with lemon juice and the house dessert, a tiramisu-like dessert with fruit liquor . . . amazing.
