Ristorante Toscanello — Restaurant in Florence

Don’t be fooled with the 4 stars rating. Please do yourself a favor and go eat somewhere else. Lasagna was not tasty at all, worst I’ve eaten in my life. My friend had meat slices with fries, there was a very small portion of meat and really little quantity of fries, I mean for 18 euros you would expect some more especially the fries. Ketchup and mayonnaise were in a little plastic packets not suitable at all in a restaurant, this isn’t supposed to be fast food restaurant. The service was very nice at first at the door when we seemed undecided, but once inside, we were rushed to make the order and very poorly managed the bill at the end. I trusted the rating in google maps, and I shouldn’t. I even started doubting if the meat is really halal or not. Basically, you are paying premium for a fast food who thinks it’s a restaurant. My sister and I came to Florence for 5 nights and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant! We happened to find out it was halal and were so excited to try the food. We were not disappointed as the food was excellent, the restaurant serves authentic italian food which not only tastes divine but also is well presented on the plate. This place was so good we actually came back for a second time, we wishes we discovered this place sooner as we would have come every single day of our stay in Florence. The menu was so diverse and I wanted to try every single thing on the menu. I highly recommend the Florentine steak and the chicken fillet with arugula and parmesan! Ordered lasagna alla bolognese and my boyfriend ordered pasta alla bolognese, and as we looked on the food other guests were eating, we didnt expect much but we stopped there cause we were pretty hungry and saw a big piece of information hanging on the window of the restaurant saying that students have 20% discount and that there are also happy hours and a list of dishes which are included (and no information which hours are happy ;)). As we were ordering our food, we found out that such discounts do not exist and in the same time two other students were paying their bill and found out that the discount wasn’t included due to the fact that that werent students from firenze - this information wasnt also included.
