Taverna Dei Matti — Restaurant in Florence

Very nice, real Italian restaurant. All dishes are very good. We have been there four times now, also with friends and we all enjoyed the place very much. It was recommended to us by Isa and Marco, whose appartment we rented in the Via Mari in Firenze. It is not in the centre and that is good. Not many tourists. Like I said, all dishes are excellent. But the tiramisu....is extraordinary, we never had such good tiramisu. Unfortunately last time it was sold out, so we took the Zuppa Inglese, also good but second. So if you can, take bus 6 or 20 and go to Matti. Reservation is wise, especially in the weekend. It opens at 19.30u. Thank you very much, cook and everybody else...

Eravamo a Firenze per una visita e io e una mia collega abbiamo trovato questo posto per il pranzo. Eravamo indecise con altri posti, ma il nome ci ispirava. Ma avremmo dovuto leggere meglio le recensioni. Partiamo dal fatto che il cameriere quel giorno non aveva voglia proprio di lavorare. Perché non è stato cordiale sin da quando siamo entrate. Ordino io per tutte e due, mentre leggo sottolineo pure col dito tutta la frase "Mezzi paccheri con verdure 'Arlecchino' e stracciatella fresca". Voi l'avete vista la stracciatella? Perché io no! E quando l'ho fatto notare gentilmente al cameriere, mi ha riportato il menù dicendomi che avevo ordinato tutto un altro piatto. Invece che scusarsi. Una volta capito che aveva sbagliato piatto mi porta un altro piatto condito diversamente, stavolta con la stracciatella. E non dice niente! Credo di aver detto grazie per l'imbarazzo. Servizio inesistente insomma. La pasta slegata e con l'acquiccia. Dal sapore sembrava condita col preparato da freezer del minestrone. Le orecchiette agli asparagi della mia collega non erano male ma sciape. In tutto questo il cameriere se ne stava in piedi a fissare da lontano. Imbarazzante. In tutto questo si sono permessi pure di alzare i prezzi nello scontrino, come ho letto in un'altra recensione. 34,50 per 2 piatti di pasta e una bottiglia d'acqua é ovviamente esagerato ma volevamo solo uscire e lo abbiamo notato solo dopo. Una volta uscite, ci abbiamo riso su per non rovinarci la giornata. Non credo che consiglierei questo...

We found the place very authentic, the staff very friendly, the patrons a bit loud but good local vibe. Overall it’s a good place which has been in the neighbourhood for years. The pizza crust is very hard and crispy, a bit thick which makes the slices hold straight even when it got cold. Just for my own taste, I prefer my crust a bit thinner when it is this crispy.
