Luca's Restaurant - Bar - Pizzeria — Restaurant in Furore

I have to start out by saying that we were really looking forward to eating at Lucas. We had anticipated a delicious lunch in a nice setting. We had pizza on our minds. We should have read recent reviews first. We received at best a lukewarm reception as we walked in the restaurant. The restaurant was not busy and it was early afternoon. We all wanted pizza but we’re quickly told no pizza at lunch. And that was that. No so sorry. No suggestions for another choice. He walked away. We needed help with the menu. We pulled out our trusty phones for translation to be told and heard others told no internet available. A tourist destination and no internet provided. Odd and not appreciated. But onward we proceeded with our lunch. So we asked for help with the menu and we’re told one line is in Italian and the other in English. We could figure that out but after we were told that we were on our own with any menu questions. So we each ordered spaghetti. The bread was delicious. The spaghetti was good but nothing special. No meat just noodles and sauce. No one came to check on our meals. It was just a very uncomfortable setting and just a so so meal. The obvious man in charge didn’t seem to be having a good day and it showed in his indifference and a kind of being put out attitude. Highly recommend do not go to Lucas restaurant. Very disappointing. The three wait staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. They took a long time to take our order and we believe we were intentionally mislead regarding the cover charge, or that was what we understood from the attitude of the staff. We did not get bread which is always included in the cover charge. At the end of the meal, when I asked, the waitsperson said "sorry they ran out" yet they still charged us full cover. Other tables had bread - and there was no apology or explanation during the meal service.

While our mains were okay (pasta with mussels, prawns, and steak) the service was below satisfactory.

They said they had no clean red wine glasses so I drank my wine from a cup - whereas people seated after us miraculously had the correct glass.

My pasta portion was tiny. My partner's steak was cold and he had to ask twice for salt while the waitspeople were visibly standing around chatting.

The prawns, my pasta and the steak (once salt had arrived) were tasty but the service was so poor that we would not recommend this...

We had such a wonderful and memorable time at Lucas. What made it truly special, beyond the amazing food, was the genuine kindness and hospitality we experienced.

The food was just perfect, freshly made, warm, and absolutely delicious. But what really stayed with us was how Valeria, who works at the restaurant, and Gianpiero, the chef, went out of their way to help us when our car broke down. They didn’t just offer support. They made sure we were okay, comfortable, and even gave us a ride to our Airbnbs. It was so thoughtful and unexpected.

The next morning, when I came back to check on the car, Valeria was incredibly kind. She kept me company, helped me with internet access, and just made the whole situation feel a lot less stressful. It was good to have support as we I did not speak Italian.

Honestly, we only have good things to say. Delicious food, warmhearted hosts (Valeria and Gianpiero ) and a real sense of care that’s hard to come by. We’re so thankful and would come back in a heartbeat. What more could...
