Ritrò Restaurant & wine club — Restaurant in Gallipoli

We stopped at this restaurant. The menu looked good and the prices fair. When we'd already sat down I looked at the reviews and wondered whether we'd made a bad choice. We needn't have worried.

I ordered the Spaghetti Vongole and my wife ordered red mullet ravioli (some of the best pasta we have both had). Both were excellent and good portions. I also had the monkfish (which was also very tasty).

They didn't speak a lot of English but the menu at the entrance is in English, so I took a photo of that.

The view of the sea is spectacular. The food was very good. We didn't have wine as I was driving. On the basis of our experience, I'd say this restaurant deserves a much higher overall rating than it...

Il posto si presenta molto carino e ben arredato. Ci accomodiamo ed ordiniamo due primi di pesce che non sono un granchè, e in uno dei piatti abbiamo trovato un capello lunghissimo; una volta segnalato e portato via (ovviamente ci era passata la voglia di mangiare) non abbiamo preferito farlo ripreparare e per il nauseante rinvemimento e perché sarebbe stato uno spreco. Al momento della richiesta del conto, nell'elenco vi era anche il piatto incriminato. Alla nostra richiesta di spiegazioni ci è stato riferito che siamo stati noi che non abbiamo voluto farlo ripreparare ma, a nostro avviso, la professionalità di un ristoratore sta nel far uscire contenti i clienti anche quando ci sono dei disguidi. Sicuramente la posizione del capello in cima o alla fine del piatto che sia non determina la decurtazione o meno dal conto finale. Il piatto andava semplicemente tolto dal conto! Dopo le nostre rimostranze, ci è stato fatto uno sconto di 5 euro sul totale che comprendeva tutto quello arrivato al tavolo tranne i due limoncelli offerti in segno di scuse; una presa in giro notevole dato che il problema non era il prezzo alto ma la poca professionalità. Avvicinatici alla cassa per pagare il conto abbiamo insistito per saldare la cifra senza sconto onde evitare l' autodeterminazione della farsa. Purtroppo il motivo della lamentela non é stato compreso in toto, complice anche la scarsa ricettivitá del personale.

Si é quindi palesato il perché del posto poco affollato, per usare un eufemismo.

Just spent 10 days travelling around Puglia and this is the best restaurant of the holiday in our view. Giulia and her husband produced some awesome local dishes as well as being such friendly hosts.
