Cute restaurant steps away from the main streets of the Old Town. Food is fresh and the menu pretty great - good value for money. It’s a popular place, you’ll see people queuing during high season, so it’s advisable to book in advance. Reason why the place doesn’t get more stars is the service: it could easily be improved upon. Half of the wines in the wine list are not available and after asking for a local white wine (Zin Fiano - really good by the way) we never got the ice bucket we asked for. I personally feel the experience would have been different if I spoke Italian.

Little restaurant on the non busy part of the street with 4 bar height tables on the outside and a handful of tables inside under homey vaulted ceilings. Seafood seafood seafood is all I can say, from the raw appetizers to the grilled main courses and everything I'm between. Great service from knowledgeable friendly waiters (especially Romeo). Leave to for the profiteroles.

Consigliato!

I was staying at Palazzo Mosco Inn and Maria, the manager there, recommended L'angolo BLU. I had read about it while researching Gallipoli, so was excited to try it out. We went in May and had a reservation for one night, but one of my friends wasn't feeling great so I walked in and they were so accommodating--they let us push our reservation to the following evening.

My two friends and I arrived, the hosts were so kind and welcoming. They didn't speak English, but not a problem--they were smiling and mimed to make sure my friend was feeling better, how sweet! We had a dictionary on my phone, all was well.

Maria talked about the seafood, and in particular the local purple shrimp, so I wanted to try it out. When I saw shrimp on the menu, I didn't even know how it would be served or what with, but I pointed and that's what I got. I wasn't purple, so who knows if it was the local shrimp, but honestly, they were THE BEST shrimp I've ever had in my life. My friends got linguine vognole (linguine and clams) and a seared tuna (if I'm remembering correctly...) and I won the ordering contest. :)

Our kind waiter brought our dishes over, he turned an espresso cup over, leaned my dish against it. The platter had the large shrimp (steamed or boiled) lined up and dusted in flakey salt. He bathed them in olive oil in front of me, flipped them over, and tah-dah. They were mine. (I wish I took a picture or video of this, but it was MEMORABLE!!!) This restaurant is a beach-y spot, but a little upscale (jeans were fine but shorts might not be), so I went to dig in with my knife and fork. The hostess noticed and ran over motioning with her hands and brought a hand wipe with her. I went for it and was so glad she gave me the o-k to peel the prawns with my hands!! The prawns were sweet, succulent, and the best I've had (and I grew up on the ocean). I absolutely loved them.

We ended the meal with some granita and I was one HAPPY camper.

If I were coming back I'd 100% get this dish again, or ask for a recommendation and go with it. Maybe stay away from the pasta... the seafood is too good to be mixed in...

The food is every good, the staff is kind. They accepted the both of us without reservation around 8.45 pm on Saturday even if it was almost full. Everything was going smoothly (order taken, delicious antipasti served quickly, gnochi arriving right after). But then our main course never arrived. We asked several times when it would arrive and they said every time it was coming soon. Then all the other tables around us were served their meal (fish included). And still no fish in sight for us. After 45 min, we asked them to cancel the fish and bring the bill because we were so fed up waiting for nothing. They were a bit embarrassed but not that much. Funny thing is they brought digestive right away to apologize even if we were only half way through the meal. Then we decided to stand up and go directly to the counter to pay because we felt that this bill would take another 20 min to arrive. So overall the food we had the opportunity to taste was excellent but they just forgot the main course and were not able to correct their mistake during the meal in spite of our multiple warnings. They offered a 20% discount on the bill (on what we had actually eaten), which I think is fair. I think we just got unlucky (it was a very busy Saturday evening : 08/06/2019) and I hope the friendly staff will make sure this will not happen again to other customers. I would have given 5/5 for the food but the poor service experience brings this...

Disappointed, was expecting better as per the other comments. We took among other plates a fresh fish to share. Not really bad cooked but no real taste neither. Same for the other plates and the starter. As for the dessert: the profiterolle were not really profiterolle, ice cream being replaced by cream and missing hot creammy chocolate to pour on top. So not the hot-cold yummy dessert we were expecting. Furthermore, among the 3 ones ordered, 1 had a different chocolate cream which was obviously not dark chocolate. The presentation of the meal is also pretty simple, could be a bit more sophisticated. Wrt the ambiance, the terrace on the right has no charm. The good points are that there were places available without reservation, the service is fast and prices are correct. All in one, the restaurant is correct but do not expect an...
