Bussola — Restaurant in Garda

3.75 overall (it is not bad, especially in the context of lake Garda being overcrowded with horrendous tourist traps, but it's not great either)

💶 Price/Value: good price for value considering the competition in this area.

🕯️Ambience/Athmosphare: little patio, with some separators in the backyard. Usually quite crowded.

🍕 Food: offer typical Italian dishes. More seafood oriented than the average Osteria. Had a Fritto Mista plate, which was not bad but quite ordinary, Tagliatelle Vongole had been quite good, just as the Bigoli with mixed seafood.

BUT the Tiramisu was among the worst I had in my entire life. While I would consider Tiramisu to not be the easiest dish, this abomination just had it all: crumbly, wet, sour and dusty at the same time. Incredible. The waiters apologised and we got quite a good Limoncello as an apology.

Free pizza bread was nice, a little dry though. And I would have preferred something more refreshing like fresh olives.

🍷Drinks: free aperitivi in the beginning were okay, common selection of wine.

🗣️ Staff: quite friendly and trying to accommodate you as good as possible.

We had dinner here 2 times when in Garda as the food was delicious.

For appetisers, we enjoyed the Parma Ham with Melon. For main courses, the Spaghetti alle Vongole, Bigoli allo Scoglio, Grilled Chicken, Pizza Frutti di Mare and the grilled fish dishes (swordfish and seabass) were all excellent. The pasta was al dente and the seafood was very fresh. For dessert, the Tartufo di Pizzo was delicious as the hazelnut gelato and rich chocolate sauce complemented each other well.

The restaurant also serves complimentary pizzabrot as a starter, which was hot and crispy and went very well with olive oil. They also served complimentary pre- and post-dinner beverages like limoncello, and a complementary cup of mandarin orange gelato, which we really appreciated.

We found the service to be excellent, as the waiters were friendly and very prompt in taking and serving our orders. This was a pleasant surprise as they managed to do so despite the restaurant being quite crowded...

La Bussola was an amazing find in Garda. We ate here every night during our stay. The staff are so efficient, friendly and welcomed us every night. Mauro is the best and he took such good care of us all week, go raibh maith agat Mauro. The food here is outstanding and the service is as good as we have ever seen. The food is very reasonably priced and of such good quality. Every night we were treated to free aperol, prosecco, foccacia, sorbet and friendly banter. There were very few, if any, free tables when we were here and there seemed to be a lot of locals eating in the restaurant. Please give La Bussola a try when in Garda, you will not be disappointed.
